Meet Mateo Solorzano

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mateo Solorzano. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mateo below.

Mateo, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My home town religion is a huge thing, so there is like a parade that comes from a city 4 hours away walking, it is done during the whole night and when people arrive is at like 4 or 5 in the morning, so when I was a kid my Grandma, my grandpa, my cousin. I used to give out coffee and pieces of bread to those people. I’m telling this story because I think that my generosity comes from the family I grew up with, and this is an example I wanted to share about it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am Mateo and I am a 22-year-old from Ecuador, I pursuit a career in the Visual effects industry and currently going trough an internship as a compositor for VFX. Besides being a lover of VFX I love film, which I do on the side. I consider myself a filmmaker as well, I love cinematography, I love story telling, and I love to shoot my own videos and make montages out of them. Right now everybody I thinks, I am working on my brand, the short name for it is TJXD, and under this name I have tried to combine all of my passions, to show things that I do in my free time as an artist.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the most important skills or qualities for me during my artist career is giving constructive feedback. I think it is really important to learn how to organize your thoughts when giving feedback to anyone else so that you can give yourself feedback in the most constructive way possible.
The second quality that has been important for me is that I have learned that after some time constructing feedback, you learn to teach. teaching is an important quality and skill for me too because if you can help others understand any type of theme or skill, you can teach yourself better.
Then the third quality I would say has been important for me is that if you can get along with people, learn how to present yourself as friendly, and overall be more friendly to most people it helps a lot when you need help with anything or just on overall connections.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I love to collaborate with others, currently, I would love to get with folks who wish to make this industry better, look further away than just the industry, and be able to look into the future. Just people with the hunger of experiencing things, and creating.
