Meet Matheux Quiroz

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Matheux Quiroz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Matheux below.

Matheux, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from being prior military. Having been in the U.S. Marines, and working in small unit leadership- I’ve learned that being personable and respectful is a great way to motivate people to work together to accomplish a common goal, no matter how difficult or impossible it may seem. Having a can do attitude helps propel me forward and lead from the front!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My wife Madi and I are SA photographers, we have a beautiful baby girl named Charley. She is the best thing to ever happen to us and I think being a father helped me find a creative fulfillment from photography. The fleeting moments that are exactly that. Just these every day type of moments. The little moments we take for granted. These are the good ole days. And that’s why I find photography to be such an amazing way to capture this. Its core elements are light and time. And it ages like fine wine.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Let’s keep it simple

1. You are the greatest. Convince yourself that are the greatest, and know that it is very impossible- no matter how hard it seems

2. Always a student. You will go through the journey of self betterment. The ups and downs and eventually you will be happy with the progress you’ve made. But remember, no matter how experienced you are- you’re always a student.

3. Be humble. No one likes someone who’s over the top flashy. So just be personable and relatable and you’ll become a magnet for great people, great clients, great friends.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

801 Photo Co. is looking to work with anyone who understands that photography is an art. That at its core, its primary elements are light and time. And although we don’t live in a world where we can do this job for absolutely free, if we could, we would. It’s a privilege to be able to work as a photographer. And we don’t take it for granted.
