Meet Matt Kahla

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Matt Kahla. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Matt, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

My self-discipline comes from a mix of necessity and passion. I did not have the luxury of waiting for opportunities to knock, I had to build the door myself. Early on, I realized that in business, especially as a content creator and entrepreneur, consistency beats talent every time. That mindset turned into a habit, and that habit turned into discipline.

I have been through some tough chapters in life, including moments where I had to rebuild from the ground up. Those experiences taught me that showing up every day, even when it is not convenient or glamorous, is the only way to create real results. I am driven by the vision I have for my life and the people I care about, my wife Amanda, my family, and my dog Milo. They remind me why I put in the hours, why I stay consistent, and why I push past comfort.

For me, discipline is not about being perfect, it is about keeping promises to myself, especially when no one is watching.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a content creator, entrepreneur, and mentor in the affiliate marketing space, with a focus on helping others build sustainable income through platforms like TikTok Shop, Amazon, YouTube, and Instagram. Across these platforms, I have built a community of over 850,000 followers, with 678.2k on TikTok, 102k on Instagram, and 70,000 on YouTube. Over the years, I have created thousands of videos, generated over 20 million dollars in total GMV (gross merchandise value) across all platforms, and established myself as one of the top TikTok Shop creators in the technology niche. In the affiliate space, GMV represents the total dollar value of all sales generated through my content, showing not just the reach of my audience, but the actual buying power my content produces. My work is not just about creating content, it is about creating opportunities for others to succeed.

What excites me most about what I do is the ripple effect. I get to take the knowledge I have learned through trial and error and pass it on to creators who are just starting out. Watching someone go from unsure about their first video to hitting their first thousand in sales is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I know firsthand what it takes to make this work, and I love helping people skip the mistakes I had to learn the hard way.

Right now, I am focused on expanding my reach across multiple platforms, continuing to grow my presence on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, while also helping other creators in this space reach their goals. I work closely with brands to create authentic, high-performing content that drives both engagement and sales. Balancing my own growth with empowering others is what keeps me motivated and constantly pushing for new ideas.

For me, this is more than a career. It is a mission to empower others to take control of their time, creativity, and income, while continuing to push my own creative limits.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

For me, the three most impactful things in my journey have been consistency, adaptability, and understanding the platforms I work on inside and out.

Consistency has been the foundation. I have posted content every single day for years, even when I was tired, sick, or on vacation. Success in this space comes from stacking small daily wins over time, not waiting for one big break. My advice for someone starting out is to make creating and posting a non-negotiable habit. The more you show up, the more opportunities you create.

Adaptability has kept me relevant. Social media changes fast, trends come and go, and platforms update their algorithms. I have had to pivot my strategy countless times, whether that meant testing new video formats, exploring new features, or jumping on emerging platforms. My advice is to stay curious and be willing to experiment. If something stops working, do not get stuck, adjust and keep moving forward.

Platform knowledge is what turns good content into profitable content. I take the time to study how each platform works, from TikTok’s algorithm to Instagram’s Reels reach to YouTube’s SEO. That knowledge helps me maximize the life and reach of every piece of content I create. My advice here is to invest time into learning the rules of the game. The better you understand the tools, the easier it is to get results.

And one more thing I cannot leave out is the value of having a strong support system. For me, that is my wife Amanda. She has been there through the highs and lows, helping with the business, keeping me grounded, and encouraging me when things get tough. Having someone in your corner who believes in you makes a huge difference.

If you focus on showing up every day, staying flexible, learning your platforms, and surrounding yourself with the right support, you will be miles ahead of most people starting out.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I believe you should double down on your strengths first, and then build up the areas you are weaker in once you have momentum. When you go all in on your strengths, you create results faster, you build confidence, and you stand out in a crowded space. In my experience, success comes from owning what you are best at, and then using that success to give you the time and resources to improve in other areas.

When I started creating content, my strength was consistency and my ability to simplify complex information for my audience. I leaned into that hard. I was not great at editing in the beginning, and I did not have the best equipment, but I did not let that stop me. I focused on posting every single day, even if the lighting was bad or my edits were simple. That momentum built my audience and gave me the income to invest in better gear and to learn more advanced editing.

Another big part of my growth has been knowing where I need help and surrounding myself with the right people. I can be a little disorganized at times, and that is where my wife Amanda shines. She is incredible at organization, keeping projects on track, and helping with communication when working with brands. She is also amazing at finding the next viral product to review, which helps keep my content fresh and ahead of the curve. Having her strengths complement mine has made a huge difference in how we operate.

If I had split my focus early on between doing what I was already good at and trying to perfect every weak spot, I would have slowed down my growth. Instead, I let my strengths carry me forward, and over time I worked on the things I needed to improve. The truth is, you cannot be great at everything from the start. But you can be great at something right now, and that is what will open doors.
