Meet Matt Stapleford

We were lucky to catch up with Matt Stapleford recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Matt with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic comes from a combination of my upbringing and personal experiences. Growing up, I watched my parents work tirelessly to provide for our family, and they instilled in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. Over time, I’ve also developed a strong sense of purpose and passion for what I do, which motivates me to give my best effort every day. Additionally, I’ve learned that discipline and consistency are key to achieving long-term success, so I strive to maintain a strong work ethic as a way to honor those values and to reach my goals.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’ve always dreamed of running my own business and, after nearly 10 years of trying to find the right opportunity, I officially opened Go Mini’s of Southwest Pittsburgh in May 2021. As my wife and I raise a family, I am dedicated to showing my daughters what it is like to work hard and build something of your own while supporting local communities along the way.

When you are moving across town or planning a remodeling project, you want to know your furniture and belongings are safe and secure. At Go Mini’s of Southwest Pittsburgh, we provide our customers with convenient, cost-effective storage and moving solutions in the form of portable storage containers. When you choose our temporary storage units, you’ll enjoy flexible scheduling, open-ended rentals, and affordable monthly rates—not to mention our friendly and responsive customer service.

I’m passionate about giving back and partnering with local organizations in the Pittsburgh community. For example, we have sponsored a golf outing with the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce, helped with donation drives for City Mission in Washington, PA, and provided Go Mini’s storage containers for various charitable events. I look forward to getting involved in as many events and charitable opportunities as possible as their local Pittsburgh business continues to grow.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks was crucial. The journey wasn’t always smooth, and there were times when things didn’t go as planned. But each failure taught me valuable lessons and made me more determined. Advice: Embrace challenges and failures as learning opportunities. Don’t be discouraged by setbacks; instead, use them as fuel to keep pushing forward.

Adaptability: The world changes quickly, and being able to adapt was essential. Whether it was learning new skills, adjusting to industry shifts, or navigating unexpected circumstances, adaptability kept me moving forward. Advice: Stay curious and open to change. Invest time in continuous learning, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to explore new opportunities.

Networking: Building strong relationships with others in my industry made a huge difference. These connections provided support, opened doors, and offered insights that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. Advice: Start building your network early, and focus on genuine relationships. Offer value to others, and don’t hesitate to ask for advice or help when needed. Remember that networking is as much about giving as it is about receiving.

Overall Advice: Focus on these areas early in your journey, and you’ll build a solid foundation that will support your growth and success over time. Be patient with yourself and understand that these qualities and skills develop gradually through experience.
