We recently connected with Matte and have shared our conversation below.

MATTE, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

The military taught me how to bounce back from anything. If there is something very important that I’ve attained from the military is how to take a loss and keep it moving.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Matthew “MATTE” Tyciak, 33, was born in Camden County NJ, raised in south St Petersburg FL. MATTE has a unique style of music ranging from trap / hip-hop to pop. MATTE is not just a rapper he is a singer/songwriter for multiple artist. MATTE is in the working of an EP produced by NicTunez and his debut album. “Even on those better days, we find better ways to better ourselves.” MATTE

MATTE found his passion for music through the works of poetry, starting his writing at 10 that is all he has done since. He started recording music with the his childhood friend Nic “NicTunez” Dicataldo in the back house of his parents house in 2009. In the early stages of MATTE’s career James “JT Hitz” brought him to his first industry quality studio at which point he fell in love with recording music.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Communication, marketing and writing music are the 3 qualities that have gotten me to where I’m at. I would say communication is the most important because you have to be able to talk to people and reach them in order for them to follow you.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Never let me give up on stuff and follow through until either the season is finished or it’s done. My parents gave me the freedom to find who I was without them trying to shape me into something else. They let me have my opinion and let me know it mattered in the world.
