Meet Matteo Ratti

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Matteo Ratti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Matteo, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Honestly, I believe that’s an innate part of my personality; I must have been born with it.
If I’ve managed to achieve anything, I don’t think it’s because of any particular talent, but because I’m stubborn.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

The fascinating aspect of my profession is revealing that what we often perceive as extraordinary abilities are, in reality, skills that are accessible to everyone. It’s simply a matter of breaking things down, understanding how they work, and teaching others how to piece everything together in the same way.

I specialize in teaching singing and training vocal coaches. I founded a teaching method called VEM (Vocal Equilibrium Method) and have conducted several years of research on distorted vocal techniques to develop a teaching approach grounded in scientific evidence and respectful of human physiology.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In order, I would say: curiosity, because without it you’re unlikely to approach research; then analytical skills combined with a scientific mindset; and finally, perseverance, to practice and apply what you’ve observed.

I’m not sure if developing these abilities is the right path for everyone. Perhaps, instead, I would recommend identifying your own natural inclinations and nurturing them.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Yes, the next step might be to not always show my face on social media.
I don’t know if I’ll ever manage to do it, but I’d like to live without feeling that it’s a necessity.
