Meet Matthew Rodriguez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Matthew Rodriguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Matthew, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Being the youngest of three brothers has been a big part of how I developed my confidence. My older brothers have always believed in me and supported everything I do. They’ve practiced sports with me, and when I walked at New York Fashion Week, they were there to watch me. They also come to my sporting events whenever they’re in town from college, which means so much to me. My parents are just as supportive—my mom always reminds me that I can achieve anything I put my mind to, and my dad helps me with sports and advanced classes. Knowing I have people in my corner has helped me believe in myself and stay motivated.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m an actor, model, singer, and podcaster with a passion for balancing creativity and hard work. This February, I’ll be walking in New York Fashion Week for the third time, but this year is especially exciting because I’ll be walking for three designers which are Drisha Closet, Rhinestone Sugar Couture and Willow Bean Studios. I’m also combining my love for fashion and performing arts by singing at two runway shows for Rhinestone Sugar Couture. On top of that, I’ll be walking as an influencer and interviewing models on the red carpet and backstage for Willow Bean Studios, which is such a cool opportunity to connect with others in the industry.

Acting has been a major part of my journey, and I currently have a recurring role in the King of the South film series. Also, in 2025, I’m excited to have two feature films coming out—CharlieBird and Alamo City Zombies—as well as a short film called Surviving La Llorona.

Recently, I launched The Teen Trendsetters podcast, where I interview up-and-coming actors, models, and influencers. It’s been amazing to spotlight talented teens who are making waves in their fields and to inspire others through their stories.

When I’m not performing, I’m studying and competing in sports like football, cross country, and track, which keeps me grounded and teaches me discipline. Balancing these creative and athletic pursuits is exciting and shows me that I can push boundaries in both areas.

Whether I’m on stage, in front of a camera, hosting my podcast, or on the runway, I love using my talents to inspire others and share stories that matter.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

For me, the three most important things have been confidence, discipline, and versatility.

Confidence came from having a strong support system. My family always believed in me, which gave me the courage to try new things, like singing on a runway or performing in musicals. My advice? Surround yourself with people who lift you up and take small steps outside your comfort zone to build your confidence.

Discipline has helped me balance everything—acting, modeling, sports, school, and now my podcast. Staying focused and consistent is key. My advice is to set goals, create a routine, and stick to it.

Versatility has opened so many doors for me. Acting, modeling, singing, sports, and hosting a podcast all challenge me in different ways, but they also make me better overall. My advice? Try new things—you never know what you’ll discover or how it might help you grow.

No matter what, stay curious and keep pushing yourself. Every step forward counts!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely! I’m always excited to collaborate with other creative and driven individuals. I’m looking to partner with brands, designers, and photographers in the fashion industry, as well as directors, producers, and fellow actors in film and theater. For my podcast, The Teen Trendsetters, I’d love to feature up-and-coming actors, models, and influencers who are making an impact in their fields.
