Meet Matthew Stockard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Matthew Stockard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Matthew, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I think that comes to knowing your worth. Not being intimidated by anyone no matter the amount os status , race, or money they have. I believe in that it will only be a matter of time before they know my name and will be walking up to greet me and introduce themselves.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

What I do is a cross between Business and a artistic career. I feel as though I have the both of best worlds. One side of it is creating products that people can enjoy and also that helps in so many medical ways. On the artistic side, I get to cater small and large gathering that allows me to fulfill my artistic side through food.

I don’t believe in the term Cannabis Chef, Im a ACF Certified Chef that cooks with Cannabis. As a chef the cannabis is just another ingredient to me. I believe a Cannabis chef’s claim to fame is their food just has cannabis in it. Nothing artistic about it, just average food infused with cannabis. Versus a Chef like myself, my edible artistic creation has an extra component being cannabis. Its created with food in mind first and then the dosing, the dosing is the most important element to me. My goal is to get you to a level where you can still op[erate and function normally. I believe that cooking with cannabis comes great responsibility.

My Brand (Chef Matt) makes infused condiments. We offer infused hot sauce, bbq sauce, mango honey, Garlic & Herb Olive Oil, and ketchup to name a few. We are compliant in several States like New Jersey, Montana, California, and also the Delta 8 markets. Come December we should be availible in almost every Dispensary in California and for people who not in California they will be able to order our Delta 8 version online and available to ship to multiple states. We have several more products we are coming to Market with such as infused coffee creamer, lemon pepper butter, and more. So stay tuned and check our website www,chefmattofficial.com for updates.

Lots of Events, best thing to do is sign up on my website for emails to recieve information about Events, pop ups, and other things.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three abilities that were most impactful to me were confidence, knowledge, and determination . Having the confidence to do something that hasnt been done or others might think is crazy can detour alot of people from following their passion. The knowledge came from my background in Culinary and also having a degree in Culinary Science. And the determination came from constantly moving forward when some people didn’t get it or understand it, I knew there would come a day when the Cannabis community would catch up to m and my products.

The advice id give to someone is just keep believing in yourself and your idea. Just think one day someone said “I want to talk to someone whos not in the same room as me”. Someone also said “I want to flip a switch and the lights come on”. Any great idea is ahead of its time, can you imagine what they heard from people with their wild idea of a telephone and electricity? Just keep going, letg the world catch up to you, versus you waiting for it.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I think the first thing anyone should know about starting a business is no one can do it by themselves. I make great and exciting products, but im not great at product design or marketing the products. Find yourself a team of people who are all great at different things. I know my role, i create the products and manufacture them. Them I pass them off to my trusted team who understands my vision and she (Sacha Davis) creates the packaging and also leads the Marketing. Its about surrounding yourself with other people who are great at things you’re not. Look at any team, they have different positions for a reason, everyone has to play to their strengths . If you want a small team, find people who are great at multiple things and together you create a Symphony.
