Meet Matty J

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Matty J a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Matty , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I started to realize that imposter syndrome is really just your mind’s reaction to being in a space you’ve never been in before. It’s like working out for the first time; it feels uncomfortable, you’re sore after, and it challenges muscles you didn’t even know you had. But with consistency, you get stronger and more confident.

So now when I feel it, I take it as a sign that I’m growing. If you’re not feeling imposter syndrome at least once in a while, you’re probably not stretching yourself enough to become the next best version of you.

And honestly, I’ve worked with executives who can negotiate million dollar deals but can’t figure out how to restart their computer, so trust me, wherever you are, you belong there.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a home and lifestyle creator based in Los Angeles, sharing my journey of what I call “Perfecting the Process.” My content revolves around creating spaces, routines, and habits that help people feel more grounded, inspired, and aligned, whether that’s through home design, self-development, or everyday creativity.

What excites me most about what I do is how personal it’s become. My platform started as a passion project documenting my own glow up, renovating my apartment, improving my health, and rebuilding my sense of self. Over time, it’s grown into a community of people who are doing the same in their own way. I love that I can show the real process behind transformation, the lessons, the pivots, the humor, because that’s where the growth happens.

My content blends visual storytelling and reflection, often inspired by the idea that your home should evolve with you. Whether it’s styling a space, talking about mindset, or creating relatable moments that remind people they’re not alone in figuring it out, I want everything I share to feel like an invitation to grow alongside me.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding the “Perfecting the Process” brand into something larger, a creative ecosystem that includes digital series, collaborations with home and lifestyle brands, and community experiences that bring this philosophy offline. It’s all about helping people build the life and environment that supports their next chapter.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that have made the biggest difference in my journey are consistency, curiosity, and self-awareness.

Consistency has been everything. I’ve learned that creativity doesn’t rely on motivation, it relies on discipline. The more I showed up, even when I didn’t feel ready or inspired, the more natural it became to create, refine, and evolve. My advice to anyone starting out is to stop waiting for the perfect moment. Just begin. The repetition is what builds the confidence.

Curiosity keeps the process alive. I’ve always believed that anything that isn’t growing is dead, so I make it a point to constantly seek knowledge and new experiences. The answers are often right in front of you if you’re paying attention. Staying curious allows you to keep evolving, experimenting, and finding inspiration in unexpected places.

And self-awareness has been the quiet superpower behind everything. Knowing what energizes you, what drains you, and what you truly want to build makes every decision easier. For anyone early in their journey, I’d say make reflection part of your process. Whether it’s journaling, voice notes, or honest check-ins with yourself, clarity comes from knowing who you are and what you stand for.

Those three things, showing up, staying curious, and staying self-aware, have been the foundation of everything I’ve created.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely!. I’m always open to collaborating with people and brands who share the same values of creativity, growth, and authenticity. Whether it’s in the home and lifestyle space, wellness, design, or storytelling, I love partnering with folks who are intentional about what they create and who they create it for.

I’m especially drawn to collaborations that bring ideas to life visually, projects that inspire people to see beauty in their everyday routines, spaces, and process. That could mean co creating digital content, brand campaigns, events, or community driven experiences that align with the idea of Perfecting the Process.

If someone’s reading this and wants to collaborate, the best way to connect is through Instagram at @mattyjallday or at [email protected]. I always love hearing from like minded creatives who want to make something meaningful together.
