We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maureen Bush. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maureen below.
Maureen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I am a helpful person, I heard on a podcast once, “…helping others is the feeling of being human.” and it has never left me. For me, there is no greater joy than providing assistance to someone who needs it and receiving a genuine thank you. NEATJax doesn’t only help beautify pantries and rehang clothing, we create spaces for people to exist in. Our clients reach out to us because they are stuck and we are able to work with them through their mental and physical barriers, to find solutions they can maintain.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have always been organized! My room as a kid was always spotless, I have always had decorative shelves displaying my favorite trinkets that were never to be touched! I am not sure where it all comes from but I have to give credit to my amazing mamma! Our house was always clean and tidy and my siblings and I always had chores to help keep it that way. I don’t remember exactly what she used to say but there was a phrase that implied that our home always had to be ready to receive the queen. I love that and my home is still that way! It is SO nice to come home after working all day and know that the company could literally follow you in and you would have nothing to worry about.
I started NEAT Jax in October of 2016 when I decided that after almost 15 years I was ready to retire from retail. I went back and forth through all the usual employment options and then I met with a friend and mentor who told me that I should do something that I love, something that I was passionate about. That had honestly never occurred to me, but that thing, is organizing and helping others.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Be your true and authentic self.
Find balance. You won’t always love your work, your clients, or the situations you find yourself in but {as long as you are safe} accept the bad times as long as they don’t outweigh the good.
Be your biggest fan and gas yourself up. Confidence is key. If you belive in yourself, others will too!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Always!
We would love to collaborate with any local business, realtors, home service companies, local guides, honestly anyone! Organizing services can be used in so many spaces outside the home and we love being involved in our community!
