Meet Maureen Francisco

We were lucky to catch up with Maureen Francisco recently and have shared our conversation below.

Maureen, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

A mentor once told me that whatever hardship you are going through, remind yourself, “this too shall pass.” Life has seasons. There are peaks and valleys. If you tell yourself, the next day is an opportunity for a fresh start, it makes the hardship somewhat easier to manage.

I also lean into my faith A LOT. I know God would not let me experience something if He didn’t equip me with the tools to handle it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the co-executive producer of NW Productions, LLC, a media and entertainment company that produces live events including the state qualifiers to Miss USA and Miss Teen USA in the NW. I have served in that role for 12+ years, mentoring more than 1000+ contestants. In addition, I’m the co-founder of an awards show that celebrates the pageant community at the international level, The Global Beauty Awards show, which is now in its 8th year, scheduled for April 2025. Past honorees include the first female CEO in Loreal’s history Jamie Kern Lima, cofounder of WWE Linda McMahon, the first Filipino White House Doctor to Three US Presidents Dr. Connie Mariano and more.

In the midst of producing live shows, I’m also busy creating, pitching and selling nonfiction content with Royal Entertainment Group, a part of Sony Pictures Television.

I was recently named as 2024 Cynopsis’ Top Women in Media Awards honoree, which includes executives who work for Amazon Studios, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Hulu, Warner Bros, Paramount, etc.

I serve as a consultant and advisory board member for the nonprofit Ascend (Seattle), which helps Pan-Asians become the leaders of tomorrow.

My favorite role though is being a mom, watching my son go after his dreams.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most important qualities I’ve learned in life are the following: the importance of relationship building, never stop learning, and showing up as your best self. I find that life is more fun when you surround yourself with people who you want to do life with. When you show up as your best self, the universe somehow will attract like-minded people into your circle. You attract who you are. So if you are someone full of love and joy, you tend to bring those types of people into your world too. Furthermore, when you have the hunger to learn and are innately curious about life, you have this inner child quality who still looks at the world with optimism.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I tell myself what is making me feel overwhelmed? Is it too much work? Not enough self care? From there, I peel the layers and get to the root of the issue. If it’s too much work, I see if I can get help. If the overwhelming feeling is at home, I ask my family for support. Again, find out what it is that’s creating the overwhelming feeling and get to the root. I found stressing over it, doesn’t change the situation. I also remind myself, “this too shall pass.”
