Hi Mauricio, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
From the earliest days of my childhood, I was surrounded by a family that embodied resilience. While I never had the chance to meet my grandfather, I heard countless stories about his strength and determination. However, it was my Grandma who truly became my role model. She faced immense challenges and yet, remained my biggest fan, constantly inspiring me with her unwavering determination.

Raising my mother and her five siblings all on her own, my Grandma’s tenacity in the face of adversity left a lasting impression on me. Her resilience in fighting for her dreams, goals, and family has become a guiding force in my own life. She taught me to never give up, no matter the circumstances.

Nearly two decades ago, I took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve encountered numerous challenges and difficulties, struggling to survive and make progress. The journey has been tough, demanding an incredible amount of time and hard work.

Through it all, I’ve drawn strength from my Grandma’s example. Like her, I’m determined to persevere and achieve my dreams, no matter the obstacles that come my way. Life may throw curveballs, but I believe that with resilience and determination, I can overcome anything.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
One of the things that truly brings me joy is the art of brainstorming alongside like-minded individuals, fueling our creativity and giving birth to exciting new projects. Whether it’s conceptualizing ideas for a movie, crafting captivating narratives, or even exploring possibilities for a new business venture, I find immense fulfillment in the process.

As I delve into these brainstorming sessions, I can’t help but be captivated by the thought of making our daily production work smoother, less stressful, and infused with an extra dose of fun. It’s not just about the convenience of it all; I’m deeply passionate about incorporating environmentally friendly concepts into the solutions we develop. My vision is to revolutionize the tools and machinery used in the entertainment industry to ensure they align with eco-conscious practices.

Currently, I’m actively engaged in the initial phase of this endeavor. I’ve created a platform called “My Production Tools” on Instagram, where I’m promoting innovative gadgets and tools that can elevate our work in the industry. As this platform gains popularity and momentum, my ultimate goal is to expand its reach and promote products that not only enhance our workspaces but also contribute positively to the environment.

For me, this is more than just a project; it’s a mission that I wholeheartedly believe in. Every step I take brings me closer to a future where creativity and sustainability go hand in hand, making a real difference in both the entertainment industry and our world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Throughout this incredible and at times, crazy journey, three qualities and skills have been the driving force behind my pursuit of becoming a Producer in the film and TV industry.

First and foremost, persistence has been my constant companion. Despite the naysayers and the skeptical news about Hollywood, LA, and California, I’ve clung to my dream tenaciously. The path to success is filled with ups and downs, but my unwavering belief in myself and my aspirations has kept me afloat, focused, and fiercely ambitious. I’ve learned that staying true to your vision and never giving up are the keys to reaching new heights in this competitive industry.

Self-discipline has been a challenging yet transformative skill for me. It’s akin to the dedication required to stay fit and committed to the gym. Each day, I strive to watch what I feed my mind and soul, dedicating time to improve myself both professionally and personally. It’s not always easy, but the commitment to growth and continuous improvement drives me forward. I wake up every morning, ready to tackle the day, armed with a determination to better myself and my approach to connecting with people.

Speaking of connections, one of my strongest skills lies in building meaningful and lasting relationships. I firmly believe that the human touch can make all the difference in the work environment. By taking the time to understand and know people on a deeper level, I’ve fostered an atmosphere of positivity and trust. These relationships have not only enriched my journey but have also opened countless doors for fruitful collaborations. In an industry where teamwork and synergy are paramount, this ability to connect with others has been an invaluable asset.

As I reflect on my journey so far, I’m grateful for these qualities that have shaped me into the person I am today. Persistence, self-discipline, and the human touch have become the pillars of my path, and I’m excited to see where they will lead me next. With each step forward, I embrace the challenges and opportunities that come my way, knowing that my passion and these essential qualities will guide me to new heights in the film and TV industry.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
My journey into the entertainment industry has been marked by its fair share of obstacles, the biggest one being the struggle to connect with the right people and secure internships that aligned with my goals and skills during my school years. In those days, I found myself yearning to transition into the industry, but it seemed like an uphill battle. While studying, I had to work in the service industry to make ends meet, which often left little room for pursuing unpaid opportunities to gain valuable experience. However, I knew that taking risks and learning new skills were essential steps on my path.

The turning point in my pursuit came unexpectedly when the bar I used to manage was forced to shut down, leaving me without work for a period. It was during this time that I had a moment of clarity and realized that I needed to really focus on chasing my dream of producing movies and shows. Determined to break through the barriers, I ventured into the world of freelancing and independent consulting work, despite the challenges it presented.

As I continue on this challenging yet exciting journey, my goal is to grow within the entertainment industry. I aspire to work in a big Studio, applying my skills and expertise while growing alongside a thriving team. The dream of eventually establishing my own office and assembling a team to produce shows drives me forward. Though I haven’t yet landed those roles in a company, I remain undeterred in my pursuit of realizing these ambitions.

In the meantime, I’ve been fortunate to work independently with various clients, offering consulting services that involve managing budgets and production schedules. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with different companies on movies, award shows, and producing the Hola Mexico Film Festival every year.

My ultimate vision, however, extends beyond personal success. I yearn to open new doors and find the right business partners who share my passion and values. Together, we can build a company that not only offers creative opportunities but also provides a platform for talented individuals like myself who may not have had the same chances earlier in their careers.

Being a founder of such a company would be a dream come true. I envision a workplace that fosters creativity and growth, allowing me to continue working on creative projects while empowering others to shine in their respective roles.
