Mauriett, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is the key to life. Being able to express myself, using my voice to create ideas and produce content is something that brings me joy. Above all what helps my creativity stay alive is my imagination, fueled by exploration & wonder of the world around me. Simple pleasures in the everyday hearing the birds sing with a fresh cup of coffee, seeing a piece of art that moves something inside of you which words simply cannot explain, laughing at something ridiculous, constantly evolving as a human. Living keeps my creativity going. I always say yes to new uncharted territory with the hope one day I can make a difference.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My career began behind the scenes over a decade ago working for various tv & film productions. After I gained Mass Comm degree from the University of South Florida with Florida Lottery Bright Futures Scholarship, I had corrective eye surgery to fix my severe myopia and astigmatism. The 6 month process at age twenty-one was one of trust towards the doctors implanting my both permanent lens and then lasik to be able to fix to have clear vision. Once I could SEE clearly I made goal for myself to NEVER GIVE UP. Since I was five years old getting bullied in my glasses or because of who I was, these surgeries gave me new plan for my life. Began working at MTV Viacom in Miami Beach while I still had stitches in my eyes because I got a job interview and I never said no. I worked on The Voice for Telemundo and no one even knew I had one, I was always loyal to the productions. I still can’t believe that was decade ago, fast forward to working as voice talent & actress now in series and films, changed my trajectory in life with my imagination & perseverance. That’s why I created my free program with the MDPLS Miami Dade Public Library System called “Use Your Voice” to inspire students in the community with my story of overcoming obstacles and using my imagination to succeed. My Netflix series credit for Captain Tsubasa, my first voice gig ever.. was from chance Craigslist ad which landed me where I am now over 60 series & 30 films! My voice was original characters for film Inspector Sun & Space Dogs Tropical Adventure with worldwide cinema release, my voice was Jiu Wei in Goodbye Monster film & Goddess Eliatrope in Wakfu Season 4 by Ankama recorded at Centauro. More recently 2025, my voice is now the recurring role in English dub for Sacchan Ayame Sarutobi GINTAMA Season 2/3 & Mr.Ginpachi Zany Class new episodes streaming weekly on Disney Plus recorded at Macias Group. This role means a lot to me because anime isn’t underground anymore it is mainstream and the fans of Gintama truly care about the 20 year franchise. It takes many humans believing in you & offering you these roles, shoutout to the boss Director Chris Flores for helping me during difficult time of losing my father. Sometimes the right director can push your voice into new range to connect with the character. It has always been lovely recording there at Macias, I was able to voice Case Closed Detective Conan & over dozen Anpanman films in English as Miss Mimi. The franchise even has candy at Disney Epcot Pavilion! Some of my top career moments include my story in the Miami Herald, acted for Mango Park in multi million viewed subscriber channel SoulSnack & Judge Porter, voiced commercials for Miami Dade Animal Services “Adopt a Best Friend” & Miami Dade Transit, and even voiced an event with a dancing robot for Knight Foundation. Hoping my latest collaboration will release 2026 the character voice for Operative Games I created plus Latest Technology plus Award Winning Writers first ever type of interactive storytelling in a VIDEO GAME!! WOW the many places you can go if you don’t mind to keep GROWING AND EXPANDING AND SOMETIMES IT IS SCARY BUT ALWAYS TRY NEW THINGS!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My journey is one of mistakes and not all wins. Be brave & kind to succeed, but also have patience. Believe in yourself and try to surround your life with what makes your soul happy. This doesn’t mean to never feel uncomfortable, sometimes you need to push yourself into situations you are afraid of you are better for it in the long run. Improve yourself and have appreciation of others, always say thank you and lead with kindness. Bullied or tortured souls seem to want to bring others down, let your light shine as long as you don’t hurt anybody follow your dreams! I appreciate the studios I work with having courtesy of continuing to allow me on the team. Creatives we are a different type of people and they have the patience to direct us into bringing 2-D characters to life with our voice!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Most impactful action my parents demonstrated to me in my childhood was LOVE & instilled the importance of hard work, being early, trying your best. When my dad passed away year ago from a cancer so aggressive the specialists at Sylvester walked us out of the room to explain, you see your hero pass you realize what an impact he made in your life. Born to Syrian refugees in Venezuela the eldest boy of 15 siblings joined the Air Force as pilot and learned his love for aviation early on. Moved to America in his 20s and worked until his 70s building airplane engines for General Electric & even worked for Eastern Airlines. Hard working man, never said a bad word, no alcohol, no smoking, always smelled like cologne and NEVER GAVE UP ON HIS LITTLE DAUGHTER. So maybe the most impactful thing my parents have done for me is never stop believing in me. My mom a College Professor deported to USA from Cuba in Mariel Boatlift with a 3 year old and no English or direct family in a new country. That woman got a Masters degree full scholarship while pregnant with me and delivered mail with a heavy satchel for many years, she is a warrior. I was raised by two immigrants that worked from 3am well into the night my whole childhood showed me dedication, sacrifice, and the power of perseverance.
