Meet Max Koperstein

We were lucky to catch up with Max Koperstein recently and have shared our conversation below.

Max, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my father. Ever since I was little, I knew my father to be a hustler. He was always working, trying to provide for the family, as well as taking care of my mother, who was disabled, and myself as a young kid.

As I got older, I realized that I had the same work ethic and motto that my dad has; work smarter, not harder! With owning my own business now, I LIVE by that motto because I am the one managing everything. I am the owner, I am the social media personal, I am the marketing manager, I am the accountant, I am the driver, I am the supplier of my own goods. I do everything! I do have help from some employees, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We’re so excited to have just launched our new brand logo. Our new logo and color scheme represents us as a brand – luxury balloon and event decor! In addition to that, our website got a brand new makeover. This allows clients to better interact with us on our site, order our new Grab & Go options directly on the website and be able to better showcase all of our new rentals for 2024!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Top three qualities and skills

1) Having my college degree in tourism and hospitality with a minor in event management. This gives me the advantage over others in my industry because I studied all in the ins and outs of this industry in school. I’ve learned from the best professors in the industry and its allowed me to really put what I learned in school to my business.

2) Understanding of balloons from an early age. When I was younger, my mom would take me to party stores to get balloons. This would happen every week and sometimes more than once a week! As the years went by and I decided I wanted to start my business, I pretty much knew a lot about balloons already and it was just a matter of me mastering my skills.

3) Understanding of marketing. This goes back to my college days. I had many courses that were focused around marketing, especially around events. The things I learned in school about marketing, plus my own knowledge really helped me push my business out into the public. I am not one to wait around and wait for clients to come to me. I am always out in the community, doing events, trying to market and promote myself.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Our ideal client is anyone who wants to throw a big party and wants some awesome decor! Our main cliental are corporate clients and private parties (bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). We do cater to everyone though! We offer a wide range of products, services and decor options from clients to pick from, whether your budget is $100 to $1000.

Some of our ideal client characteristics would be;
– Someone who has a bigger budget of $400+ (our minimum for delivery is $400).
– Someone who is flexible with budget.
– Someone who understands decor or has worked with other event companies in the past. We found that this trait can help because they might better understand how whole process. BUT, we do not discriminate against someone who has never planned an event before.
– Someone who has a great imagination and likes to create! Our job is all about creating. If we can have a client come to us and give us something we’ve never made before, that’s ideal! We love a challenge!
– Someone who honest about what they want, and open to my suggestions and ideas as a professional
