We were lucky to catch up with MaxiMo Mace recently and have shared our conversation below.
MaxiMo, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Being creative is what makes us human. To keep my creativity alive, I am continuously changing my life. Nothing grows from the stagnant. I push myself a lot into new situations. I challenge myself to meet new people, to expand my horizons, and go places I have never been. These changes, some huge some small, keep me on my toes. The new experiences keep my mind going and from there I get the ability to keep creating. It is fun, it is scary, it is really the only way I know how to live.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an artist and creator, and I have the privilege of running Design Bodega (@designbodega_co), a full-service design studio I co-founded with some of my closest friends. Together, we specialize in branding, custom murals, fabrication, and installation. We offer the complete creative package for clients who want their vision brought to life with purpose and personality.
What makes this venture so special isn’t just the work we do, it is who I get to do it with! Our team is a tight-knit group of talented women with deep experiences in our respective fields, shared values, and a whole lot of creative chemistry. We’ve worked together in the past, and after years apart, we realized the spark was still there. So, we decided to build something new, together!!
Design Bodega is fresh on the scene, but backed by years of collaboration and craft.
We thrive on bringing ideas out of people’s heads and into the real world. We listen, we vibe, we design, and we build. And we do it all with joy, care, and professionalism.
Running a business isn’t easy, but doing it with people who inspire you makes it all worth it.
We’re excited for what’s ahead, and we’d love to be your business’s next creative partner. Let’s make something amazing together.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’m an artist. I paint, I create, and I always will. However, my true specialty is people. I naturally take the lead when it comes to networking and making connections for the teams I work with. I love meeting clients, hearing their stories, and making sure they feel seen, heard, and taken care of from start to finish. For me, it’s not just about the final product, it’s about the relationship we build along the way.
I know it’s not the most common thing to enjoy the backend of business, but I genuinely do. I love the problem-solving, the challenges, and most of all, the opportunity to make people happy. I want every client I meet to feel good about the process, to walk away with something they love, and to know they can come back anytime.
What I’ve learned is that asking good questions gets you far. Be interesting, but let people talk about their passions. Learn about your audience. Be present. Be kind. And show up with joy, not just for your client but for yourself! People feel that. People remember that. When you bring the right energy, it opens doors.
And don’t be afraid to go out and connect in real life. In a world that’s becoming more and more digital, it’s easy to forget that your clients are, in fact, real-life people. That human connection, especially in creative work, is powerful. It’s where trust is built and the magic happens.
So yeah, be kind, ask questions, and don’t forget to be real!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We’re looking for people to collaborate and dream big with. At Design Bodega, we want to work with individuals, brands, and teams who have a strong vision and the drive to bring it to life in unforgettable ways.
Personally, I’m especially excited to dive into large-scale murals and fabrication for events. The kind of experiences that live in your memory (and all over your social feed). We’re talking big parties, bold weddings, and immersive brand moments. I want the events people talk about long after the lights go out. The kind where you look around and think, “How did they even make this happen?”
That “if you build it, they will come” energy? That’s what fuels me. It’s what drives the development, the design, the execution and our whole team is ready for you.
We love working with clients who have a clear vision, but who also leave space for our creative team to do what we do best. So if you’ve got walls that need transforming or installations that need building, send them our way! You can reach us at [email protected] and @designbodega_co on Instagram.
