Meet Maxine Cesar

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maxine Cesar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Maxine, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I believe I’ve truly developed confidence over the past 2–3 years. For me, there’s a big difference between appearing secure to the world and actually feeling worthy—worthy of yourself, of the opportunities life gives us, of the connections we manifest, and of all the beauty that surrounds us.

It’s easy to ask for the life we want, but it’s something else entirely to carry it without fumbling, especially when deep down, you don’t feel good enough. For a long time, I didn’t feel worthy of the life I deeply desired. I couldn’t even let my mind imagine it, because I limited myself to what I had already seen and experienced—what was real only in the human eye.

I’ve always had a relationship with God, but I don’t think I truly understood His language until recent years. It’s similar to how you start resonating with your parents’ lessons only once you’ve lived through the things they tried to warn you about.

The beautiful, yet often uncomfortable, truth about walking with God is that His love is so deep, He’ll allow us to feel the full weight of pain to spark our transformation. He’ll touch the part of us that holds the most vulnerability and resistance. For me, that will always be love and the people closest to me.

I knew I wanted more. I knew I deserved more. But I couldn’t bring myself to begin, because I couldn’t see it yet.
It took God breaking apart a relationship that was a defining part of my 20s to place me in a space where I had no one but Him.

For months, I sat in the discomfort of knowing that my old life had been dismantled, but not yet having stepped into the new one He was preparing for me. I felt like everything was falling apart.

But in that space, He taught me how to surrender. How to really pray. And for the first time in my relationship with Him, I wasn’t just talking—I was listening.

I realized I wasn’t breaking generational chains by choice, but by divine assignment. Every decision I made would heal both my ancestors and the generations that will follow.

Now, when I walk into rooms, I don’t just walk in with confidence—I walk in with worthiness. I know I belong. I know I have purpose. And I know that my story is one that proves: when it feels like life is ending, hold on because it may actually be just beginning.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a woman who wears many hats and I wear them with pride. Each one is a tribute to my younger self, the little girl who dreamed of doing everything.

My career began in nursing, and I’m currently celebrating 7 years as a med-surg nurse. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. I’ve always been a naturally nurturing soul, and nursing has allowed me to thrive in a space where I can make people feel seen, heard, and healed, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. My journey has also led me into the world of holistic health, where I also serve as a guide, leading guided meditations and sound bowl therapy in both group classes and one-on-one sessions.

About halfway through my
nursing journey, I realized I didn’t have to limit myself or follow one set path. That’s when I began pursuing my creative passions—starting with pageantry. While I haven’t won a crown (yet), pageantry gave me something even more valuable: confidence, poise, and the ability to take up space unapologetically. It became the gateway to my career in hosting and eventually, entertainment and fashion correspondence, where I get to combine my voice with one of my favorite things in the world: storytelling.

I’ve now been working as a freelance correspondent for the past two years with two incredible media platforms that have a presence in NYC, Miami, and LA. Most recently, I had the honor of covering my first celebrity red carpet during New York Fashion Week, interviewing stars like Ciara, Serayah, Joey Bada$$, and Priah Ferguson.

I’m excited to continue growing in the media and entertainment space, with dreams of one day hosting major cultural moments like the Met Gala and beyond.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most profound pillars of my journey have been my unwavering relationship with God, the gift of alchemy, transforming pain into power time and time again, and my deep capacity to love and feel with raw, soulful intensity.

My advice to anyone who hears my story and resonates, especially those in the early stages of their journey is this: be patient. Be patient with yourself, with God, and with the divine timing of your life. You are a rare gem, and he is intricately shaping every facet of your being so that when it’s time, you won’t just shine, you’ll illuminate every room you walk into with undeniable brilliance.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My community has played an essential role in shaping the qualities, skills, and wisdom I carry today. From a young age, my parents instilled in my siblings and me a deep respect for education and strong core values. But more than that, they embodied resilience, perseverance, and unwavering strength. They taught us to follow our dreams and never to accept “no” as the final answer.

Through lived experience, I also learned the power of intentionality, especially when it comes to who we allow into our energy. The people we surround ourselves with can either nourish our growth or keep us stagnant. I’ve become deeply mindful of that truth.

Today, my circle is both beautifully and divinely aligned. They pour into me with love, hold me accountable, celebrate my wins, and speak my name with reverence in rooms I haven’t yet entered. They remind me of who I am, even on the days I forget.
