We were lucky to catch up with Maxine Eiland recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maxine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I didn’t set out to build my own business. I set out to survive motherhood—and stay connected to myself in the process.
Before becoming a mom, I was strong. I played sports, lifted weights, and moved with confidence. But when I got pregnant, everything shifted. I quickly realized that the fitness world wasn’t built for the version of me that was growing a baby. And after giving birth, the message was even louder: “Get your body back.” But no one was talking about how to safely return to movement—physically or emotionally—or how to rebuild from the inside out.
I remember standing in a gym postpartum, my body feeling foreign, leaking milk, my core unstable, and wondering, “Where do I fit in now?”
That question became the seed for Divine Mama Strength.
What started as me trying to bridge the gap between motherhood and movement grew into a mission: to give women real support during the most physically, hormonally, and emotionally demanding transitions of their lives—fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
I pursued certifications, studied anatomy, learned from pelvic floor specialists, and worked with women one-on-one. I didn’t want to just hand out workouts—I wanted to educate, empower, and rebuild confidence.
Divine Mama Strength was born from both my love of strength training and the frustration of being underserved as a mother. Today, I get to support other women in reclaiming their strength, not by bouncing back, but by building forward.
I found my purpose in the gap—between what women need and what the wellness industry offers. And I’m here to fill it with honesty, education, breath, strength, and compassion.
Because we deserve better. And I’m here to make sure we get it.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At Divine Mama Strength, I support women through some of the most transformative stages of life—fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond—through movement, education, and personalized care. My work blends breathwork, functional strength, mobility, and pelvic floor awareness to help women feel connected to their bodies and confident in their strength again. But what I do goes beyond sets and reps—it’s about helping women rewrite their relationship with their bodies during seasons of major change.
One of the things I love most is how our work creates ripple effects. When a mother feels supported, she shows up differently—for herself, her family, and her community. That’s why I’ve expanded Divine Mama Strength into something much more holistic and accessible.
I host Nourish & Flourish, a free, community-based event series that brings in experts across women’s health—nutritionists, sleep consultants, pelvic floor therapists, and more. These events are open to the public and meant to spark meaningful conversations that women often don’t have access to in traditional healthcare settings. It’s one of my favorite ways to bridge education with empowerment.
I’ve also recently launched monthly Mommy & Me music classes in collaboration with 2 other local moms and music educators. Each class is rooted in joy and connection, with playful music themes (June is Taylor Swift!) and space for caregivers to bond with their little ones through movement, rhythm, and creativity. Plus, we have a prenatal class for mama-to-be’s that focuses on breathwork and developing music habits for baby!
Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow these community offerings while expanding partnerships with local gyms and businesses who want to provide better support for their female members and employees. My goal is always the same: to make strength and support more accessible for every woman—no matter what chapter she’s in.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three things stand out as the most impactful in shaping my journey.
First, my upbringing instilled a deep sense of hard work and resilience. I was raised to believe that if something matters, you show up for it—consistently, even when it’s hard. That mindset has carried me through the messiness of motherhood, the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, and the discomfort that comes with building something meaningful from the ground up.
Second, my background in marketing and web development gave me the tools to build Divine Mama Strength into a real, visible platform. I didn’t have to wait for someone to amplify my voice—I could create my own space, tell my own story, and make it accessible to the people who needed it.
And third, I’ve always had a strong determination to change things. I couldn’t ignore the gaps I saw in women’s health and fitness—and I wasn’t okay with the status quo. That drive to do something different, even when it wasn’t convenient or easy, became my compass.
My advice for anyone early in their journey? Be persistent—and don’t be afraid to be a little annoying. Ask the questions. Follow up. Show up when no one else does. And get comfortable with discomfort. Growth doesn’t happen in the easy moments. It happens when you lean into the unknown and keep going anyway. And be supportive of others as you grow. The more we support each other, the stronger we all are.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself that I can’t do it all—and I definitely can’t do it all at once. I’ve learned to release the pressure of being great at everything simultaneously. Some days I’m a really present, playful mom. Other days, I’m in the zone with my business. Sometimes I’m a great wife, friend, or sister—but rarely all at the same time. And that’s okay.
The best strategy I’ve found is to zoom out. I ask myself: What actually needs my energy right now? And what can wait? That simple pause helps me reset my expectations and focus on what matters most in that moment.
My advice? Let go of the idea of balance as something you achieve. Think of it more as something you adjust—day by day, season by season. Give yourself permission to show up imperfectly, and know that doing your best looks different every day.
