Meet Maya Mcmillin

We were lucky to catch up with Maya Mcmillin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Maya, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from gratitude. I see how far I have come, I am grateful for where I am and excited for the future.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Maya Angela McMillin and I am an embodiment coach. In 2022, I founded Powerblast Soul Embodiment Self Reflection Practices. I teach people how to transform thoughts, feelings and energy through music, movement and meditation. Powerblast is all about connecting to your inner being, bringing your soul to life and expressing the depths of your emotions. I feel it is my mission to help equip humans with fun tools to help empower and liberate them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I feel meditation, movement and music were the most impactful in my journey. For me, meditation came in the form of consistent self reflection. Creating sacred space to clear my mind and listen for my own guidance. Through meditation I held space for a wide range of emotion throughout my journey. No feelings were off the table and that safety and inner harmony keeps me going and enjoying the ride. Adding movement to my meditations added a new element of expressing my imagination. I found that the more i literally moved with my mind in meditation the more courage i had to move out in the real world. following my heart and trusting myself enough to take the next step was courage created in t my mind during those meditations. Music is a gift that helps me channel all my emotional energy. To me, the journey is all emotions. All how you perceive yourself and the world, so mastering the navigation of my emotions has been the most impactful area of knowledge.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I think it best to follow your bliss and what lights you up. I spent so many years attempting to start business after business to get rich and finally make the money I thought would make me sooo happy. They all failed. Even if they hadnt, I wouldnt have felt that happiness I really wanted to live for. It was when i went all in on the things that made me happy is when my efforts and investments paid off. If you do what you love, you are always on the right path.
