We were lucky to catch up with Maya Unique recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maya, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by continuing to share my results, even when I didn’t feel fully confident in them. By pushing through the self-doubt and posting anyway, I gained confidence and proved to myself that progress is more important than perfection.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As an entertainer—DJ, dancer, and rapper—I find the most excitement in expressing myself through each art form in a unique way. Each one allows me to showcase different aspects of my creativity. I’m also thrilled to share that I have an EP coming soon and a clothing line launching soon as well!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are creativity, impulsiveness, and resilience. To develop or improve on these, my advice for those just starting out is to keep going and stay consistent. Think bigger, take risks, and most importantly, invest in yourself—it’s key to growing and achieving your goals!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking to collaborate with brands in the fashion, food, beauty, and hair industries. I’m eager to partner with brands that align with my interests and values to create impactful and engaging content.
