MEet Mayra Becerril

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mayra Becerril a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mayra , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose in starting a business was the need of getting out of my comfort zone and the need of a little extra money.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Yhoaki helps promote everything made by hand in order to get to know the craftsmanship of several people representing the Mexican culture.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Passion one quality that has impacted both me and my business. I love what I do, I am very motivated, once I get something in mind no one can stop me and my business from overcoming any obstacle.Decisions, I analyze all the advantages and disadvantages Yhoaki could have. Trying to be more objective with what could benefit my business. And Patience, this quality has been the most important because nothing has been easy to get where I am today. Everything has been try and fail. I try overcoming all the adversities over and over until I get to Yhoaki’s success.

My advice to those early or really anyone in this journey, no matter what your main idea for your project is, keep in mind the main skill is creativity. Having the idea is somewhat simple, portraying the idea is where creativity is needed, which could lead to more ideas. Love what you are doing, visualize your business and go for it, make it come true. Like I say, “let’s never let our guard down and keep fighting for our goals.”

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The people who have helped me overcome these challenges and build up Yhoaki where it is today, are my two daughters. They have helped me to keep fighting and overcome the obstacles. They are my pillar, the most important and strong bond that makes Yhoaki and me who we are today.
