Meet Mckenna Burgess

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mckenna Burgess. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with McKenna below.

McKenna, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose through my own traumas and the journey of healing them. By facing my sexual trauma head-on and choosing not to let it define me, I reclaimed ownership of my body and my power. Through this deep embodiment and freedom, I realized my calling—to guide others toward the same liberation. My work is rooted in the understanding that healing is not just about processing pain but about stepping fully into the body with love, presence, and sovereignty. It’s my honor to share this path with others who are ready to reclaim themselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My work is a reflection of my own healing journey—a path of reclaiming my body, power, and pleasure after trauma. I am a Tantric Shamanic Priestess, certified sexologist, and licensed massage therapist, and my offerings are centered around bringing people back home to themselves through embodiment, connection, and deep healing.

Through my work, I guide individuals in unlocking the wisdom of their bodies, releasing stored trauma, and cultivating a relationship with themselves that is rooted in sovereignty and self-love. My clients range from those looking to heal past wounds to those seeking a deeper sense of presence, pleasure, and purpose in their lives.

Recently, I launched a YouTube channel where I share yoga flows, guided meditations, breathwork sessions, and sound baths—tools to help regulate the nervous system, open the body, and reconnect with the soul. This is just the beginning, as I’ll soon be hosting live online events, including a Womb Clearing Ceremony that is open to all. Our womb space, whether physical or energetic, holds imprints of past experiences, and this ceremony will be a powerful opportunity to release, reclaim, and renew.

I also have an upcoming 6-Week Awakened Embodiment Journey, a deep dive into somatic healing, tantra, and the reclamation of self. This journey is about feeling safe in your body, moving beyond shame, and stepping into a life of deeper pleasure and presence. Each week, we’ll explore different facets of embodiment through movement, breathwork, self-inquiry, and ancient practices designed to awaken and integrate all parts of you.

Beyond that, I’m working on creating online courses that will blend tantra, somatic healing, and embodiment practices to provide a more in-depth and accessible way for people to embark on their own self-discovery journeys.

At the heart of everything I do is the intention to help others return to their bodies, reclaim their sensuality and power, and create lives that feel deeply nourishing and aligned. I believe that true healing comes when we embody our truth, step into our pleasure without shame, and honor the sacredness of our being.

I am here to walk alongside those ready to do this work—to hold space, to guide, and to remind you that your body is your temple, your pleasure is your birthright, and your healing is your power.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were self-discipline, the ability to release external validation, and unwavering faith in myself.
1. Self-Discipline – No one was going to do the work for me. I had to hold myself accountable, keep myself on track, and push forward even on the days I didn’t feel like it. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but self-discipline is what kept me moving when motivation wasn’t there.
2. Letting Go of External Validation – Walking a different path means people will question you. They might not understand what you’re doing, and that’s okay. Learning to tune out the noise and trust my own inner knowing was crucial. If you constantly seek approval from others, you’ll end up living for them instead of yourself.
3. Faith and Unwavering Belief – I had to believe in myself before anyone else did. Faith isn’t just about hoping things will work out—it’s about knowing deep in your bones that you’re capable, even when you can’t yet see the full picture. That belief carried me through every challenge.

Advice for Those Just Starting:

Find your “why” and remind yourself of it every single day. Whether it’s a screensaver, a vision board, a “why wall,” or daily affirmations, keep it front and center. Your “why” is what will keep you going when things feel hard.

Also, start your day with mindfulness practices. Whether it’s breathwork, meditation, journaling, or movement, having a daily ritual re-trains your brain and sets the tone for the day. The way you start your morning ripples out into everything else.

Your journey is yours alone—stay disciplined, block out the noise, and trust yourself.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I completely stop what I’m doing and go have fun. I put the world and its problems on pause and shift the energy in my body by creating space for play, pleasure, and joy.

For me, that often means doing something that reminds my inner child that it’s okay to still live, laugh, and enjoy the moment. Whether it’s dancing, hooping, being in nature, or simply doing something spontaneous, I let myself fully drop into the experience without guilt.

When I return to whatever was overwhelming me, I come back with a fresh perspective, a lighter energy, and a clearer mind. More often than not, I realize that the things that felt so heavy before don’t hold the same weight anymore, and I can approach them with a renewed sense of clarity and ease.

Advice for Others:

When overwhelm hits, give yourself permission to step away. Shifting your state—whether through movement, laughter, or something that brings you joy—breaks the cycle of stress and helps you return to your challenges with new eyes. Sometimes, the best way to solve a problem is to stop forcing yourself through it and allow play, rest, or pleasure to bring you back into balance.
