Meet McKenzie Victory

We were lucky to catch up with McKenzie Victory recently and have shared our conversation below.

McKenzie , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Honestly, I haven’t always been in the best circumstances I grew up with family issues and always felt a little different from other people around me. But no matter what has happened to me in my life i’ve always gone with the positive side of things at the end of the day. I realized as a young child that making the best of what you have is always the right answer. Being negative never fixes a situation only worsens it. I believe that optimism is a choice and you have to decide what you want to choose daily.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is McKenzie Victory and I am a Licensed esthetician in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My drive for being an esthetician despite the rapidly growing and over saturation of the industry, would be personal insecurities. I think anyone who has ever lived and had skin has had the feeling of being insecure in one way or another. I grew up with acne and severe skin insecurity’s from a young age, I tried everything on the market that was available for me. I felt like when I was struggling with my skin nothing helped me and only worsened my skin, i couldn’t even leave the house without makeup I was so ashamed. My inspiration behind becoming an esthetician is to help those who have struggled like I have. My passion is skincare but I also do lashes, brows , waxing , makeup and more! I love everything about the beauty industry and what most of us who are apart of it believe and stand on. I am always looking to grow personally and within my brand. I plan to continue my education with skincare and esthetics as I widen my horizons with everything I do.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say the most important qualities that have helped me and that I feel are necessary to achieve would be drive/ motivation, resilience and creativity. The reason being behind needing motivation and or Drive is because your journey may be hard work and more than you were expecting so always be ready for more and never give up, There may be days you don’t want to wake up and do what you need to do but the most important thing to do is to do it anyways.

Resilience is extremely important in life and in your personal journey because it basically means no matter how many times you get knocked down you always get up and keep trying you don’t let anyone get in your way, and you are strong and bold and everything you do. Nothing good comes easily and resilience helps you to get through all the road blocks in life.

Creativity is especially important in your personal journey and in your career because this will help you to stand out from others and to create personal experiences with people. Being different and creative can open doors for you that other people might not receive. Do something different and be you always!

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I would say my biggest area of growth would be time management and focus. I grew up with ADHD and have always struggled to stay on task and to get important things done. Being in an industry I love and care about and also want to succeed in pushes me to stay focused even when it’s hard. I’ve never been a school person but I did exceptionally well in aesthetician school and on. my state boards because of my drive behind it. It’s been a year since I graduated aesthetician school And I’ve done nothing but focus on my goals and what I want for my business , Personal life , Relationship and more. I am extremely excited for what my future holds and I am determined to do whatever I need to get there.
