Meet Mecki Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Mecki Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mecki, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I believe we have multiple purposes here in life, but for Matched By Mecki I found that anything love related feels natural to me. Helping others fix their relationship issues or determining whether or not someone is a good fit for them feels effortless. I am also a natural born organizer, so helping people plan their special day fell right into place with what makes complete sense to one of my purposes. I always say “God is love, so naturally I enjoy it”. This purpose is to share God’s love. It goes hand in hand.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am certified as a matchmaker, relationship coach, ordained minister of marriage (officiant), and event coordinator (with emphasis on day of coordinating for weddings) – in short, I’m a certified lover of love. I help others love themselves, find their romantic love match, and fix their issues in love. The most exciting thing about my business is that I get to focus on what we all want and need… love! When I am not helping clients or loved ones, I am helping spread love in any way I can. Most recently, I hosted a blanket drive for our local friends without homes to help keep them warm during the cold season her in LA.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities I have and find to be most impactful for my business are having patience, being a clear communicator, and understanding that everyone’s journey is different. There isn’t a copy + paste strategy that can be used across the board. Working in customer service prior to launching my business helped build these character traits, and helped me realize having strong customer service skills will always help provide a great experience for all parties involved. No matter what your role is, these three qualities are a must.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my mother has always done is show her support. I hear stories of people not getting the support of their parents when starting a business or making changes in their lives, and that’s so foreign to me. I can literally say I’m starting a business selling blocks, and she’d be the first customer in line. This has taught me how to support my own kids in whatever ideas they have as well. If your parents approve, that’s an easy indicator that you are probably doing something right. Even if they don’t approve, still do what feels great to you as long as it’s not harming anyone else. You’ll always have SOMEONE who will support that… even if you have to be your own #1 supporter.
