Meet Meg Ellis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meg Ellis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Meg, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Just like everyone else, I think it was a lot easier for me to identify what my purpose was not, versus what it was. For a long time, I coasted through a 9-5 and a rocky marriage, even though neither made me happy. I knew there was something more out there for me, but I didn’t know what it was…there was just an ever present feeling of longing for something more. “This can’t be it,” I would always think.

Because my daily lifestyle was unfulfilling, it was a lot easier for me to identify the parts of my life that I didn’t like. What wasn’t working. When you stay in this mindset for so long, it begins to be all you see, and it feels like there is no way out. (i.e: a rut.)

Years ago, I stumbled upon something called “The Law of Attraction,” which basically says whatever you focus on, you attract more of. It blew my mind! All I had been thinking about were the things in life that I didn’t want and that I felt stuck in. If the Law of Attraction was true, there’s no way I could focus on all the things that weren’t working out for me and suddenly get the life I desired.

How did I find my purpose? Simply put, I stopped thinking about what I was a no for and started focusing on what I was a yes for. The more I started thinking about what I was a yes for, the more decisions I would make based on my yes and not my no. I would learn this later, but because my mind was focused on what I was a yes for, it would actually do half the work for me and try to figure out how to make my yes happen. This opened me up to new opportunities and possibilities followed by inspired action (not incessant action!), which have all now led me to living out my dreams. Turns out, my purpose was coaching other people how to do the exact same thing! To live their Best Life Ever.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Conscious Life Coach and I help people wake up in their lives. I help them find the answer to the question I asked myself years ago. Is it supposed to feel like this? Is there something more out there for me? Most of the time, people look outside of themselves for happiness – I know I did! It leads to nowhere good and it certainly isn’t fulfilling. As a coach, I help you look inside to find happiness…where it’s always been this whole time. I have a wonderful team of Phoenix 8 coaches, and one thing I can say with pride and gratitude, is that we all deeply care. We care about you. We care about how you feel, and we care about your dreams. We’re all practitioners too – not just theorists, meaning we’re in the arena with you! We’re dedicated to our own personal development, so we can guide others to do the same. Being a human feels hard sometimes, and you’re certainly not meant to navigate it on your own.

Personal development is for everyone, wherever you are in life! We offer something for everybody. We have self-guided digital coaching programs for someone who is newer to growth and wants to dip their toes in. We offer 1-1 coaching programs along with group coaching programs for those who want a little more accountability and depth. And for anyone who wants to completely immerse themselves in transformation, we offer wellness retreats around the world!

If reading this is a lot for you, check out our two free online masterclasses – Manifesting 101, which tells you all about The Law of Attraction (yes, that’s the one that changed my entire life!) to begin creating your Best Life Ever. We also offer a free Vision & Goals workshop to help you kickstart into inspired action without feeling overwhelmed. Of course, the Create Your Fate podcast is a free life coaching resource and is available wherever you listen to your podcasts! We cover everything from manifesting, letting go of what’s not for you, and self-love to overcoming guilt, fighting fear, and finding balance.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’m going to go with three pieces of knowledge here, which also happen to be the three Phoenix 8 life coaching foundations. One, as stated before, The Law of Attraction! What you think about, you create more of. Definitely check out our free online masterclass, Manifesting 101 on the website. Second, the Enneagram! The most spot on personality test you’ll ever take in your entire life. It allows you to understand why you do things, and when you can understand why you do things, then you can begin to do more of the things that are working for you, and less of the things that aren’t working for you. There’s a free test on my website. Lastly, consciousness. Waking up in your own life, looking around and asking, “Does this feel true to me? To who I am, deep, deep down?” You cannot change your life when you’re asleep. Wake up. We’ll help.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Overwhelm, what a completely universal human experience! First, I accept the fact that I am overwhelmed. This allows me to think clearly to devise a plan and stop continuing to do the most. Overwhelm is mostly mental, and your mind is likely in the past (guilt) or the future (anxiety.) You have to get back to the present moment! The good news is you have a huge resource that you walk around with every day to help get you back to the present. Your body! Your body can never be anywhere but the present, and you can actually use it to trick and calm your mind. I have an entire podcast episode to this, so check out Create Your Fate Episode 145: How To Use Your Body To Trick Your Mind.
