Meet Meg Hadley

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meg Hadley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Meg , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from a deep-rooted passion for my craft and a relentless drive to express myself authentically through my art. From a young age, I’ve always been enamored with the power of painting. This love for painting has fueled me through the inevitable challenges and setbacks that come with pursuing a career in the arts.

Additionally, I draw strength from the themes and subjects I explore in my work. Delving into the darker aspects of life requires a certain level of resilience, as it often involves confronting uncomfortable truths and pushing boundaries. However, I believe that art has the power to transform pain into beauty, and this belief gives me the resilience to keep pushing forward, even when faced with adversity.

My independence and self-reliance have played a significant role in shaping my resilience. Building my brand, Jesusjoints Art, from the ground up has required determination, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace failure as part of the creative process. By forging my own path and staying true to my vision, I’ve cultivated a lifestyle that allows me to weather the storms of doubt and criticism that inevitably arise in the artistic journey of dark art.

In essence, my resilience is a combination of passion, belief in the transformative power of art, and a fierce determination to carve out my own space in the world of painting. It’s what drives me to keep creating, keep pushing boundaries, and keep striving for artistic excellence, no matter what challenges come my way.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Welcome to the world of Jesusjoints Art. Here’s a little glimpse into what I do and what makes it so special..

I paint on glass panels with oil paint, diving deep into the shadows and complexities of human existence. My work is dark, thought-provoking, and not for the faint of heart, juxtaposition. But for those who dare to venture into the depths of my art, there’s a world of emotion and meaning waiting to be discovered.

What’s most exciting about what I do? Well, it’s the thrill of pushing boundaries and challenging norms. I love exploring the darker side of life and sparking conversations that delve into the uncomfortable and the taboo. There’s a certain rawness and honesty to my art that I believe resonates with people on a visceral level.

As for what’s new on the horizon, stay tuned! While I can’t spill everything just yet, let’s just say there are some exciting events and projects in the works. Keep your eyes peeled for updates via Instagram! @jesusjoints

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Asking for help and refusing to accept “no” as an answer are two pillars that profoundly shaped my journey as an artist. Whenever I faced uncertainty or challenges, I made it a point to reach out for guidance and knowledge. This continuous quest for understanding and support kept me moving forward, even in the face of adversity.

Moreover, maintaining an unwavering belief in my innermost self was crucial. Despite encountering rejection and skepticism along the way, I remained steadfast in my vision and abilities. This self-assurance propelled me forward, fueling my passion for creating art that resonates deeply with others.

For those embarking on their own journey, my advice is simple: Never lose sight of what you believe in. Regardless of the obstacles you encounter, persevere with resilience and conviction. And remember, there’s a supportive community out there waiting to embrace and uplift you. So don’t hesitate to share your voice and aspirations with the world—your unique perspective is invaluable.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person who has been most instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills needed for success is undoubtedly my late art mentor, Steven Lee Ray. From the ages of 15 to 18, he was not only a teacher but also a guiding light in my artistic journey.

Steven introduced me to the world of oil painting and trained me in the classical techniques of realism portraiture. His mentorship went beyond just teaching; he instilled in me a passion for the craft and encouraged me to pursue my creative instincts fearlessly. Steven always welcomed my new ideas and never judged, allowing me to explore and experiment without reservation.

Although Steven is no longer with us, his teachings and lessons continue to resonate deeply within me. His influence has shaped me into the artist I am today, and I carry his legacy in every piece I create.

I am forever grateful for Steven’s mentorship and support, and I owe much of my success to his guidance and encouragement. He will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am honored to carry on his teachings through my craft.
