Meet Megan Costello

We were lucky to catch up with Megan Costello recently and have shared our conversation below.

Megan, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I think purpose in creative work lies in finding your flow state. The intersection of what you love and enjoy doing with what the world needs. For me, that happened to be photography but everyone has one or even a few flow states.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a photographer who specializes in action sports and lifestyle, with an emphasis on surf. My favorite thing to shoot is big wave surfing out in Hawaii and Australia. There’s nothing like the adrenaline of it. Big wave surfers are so brave, they’re a wild energy to be around. You can check out my photo work at: www.avalanchevocals.com.

I also run a storytelling agency, Sunnwaves Creative with a team in Los Angeles and Byron Bay, Australia. www.sunnwavescreative.com

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Practice self-discipline, be kind to yourself and don’t be hindered by rejection.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Ikigai. It tells you everything you need to know about finding your flow state.
