We recently connected with Megan Hahn and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I’d like to say that it comes naturally, but I do think it’s taken years of experiences to shape my mindset. I was a teenager that complained a lot, but I’m also a very independent person so I took risks to try new things. This taught me how to see the best outcome. For example, I made the junior varsity basketball team in high school with a positive attitude and ability to run fast. It was exceptionally challenging because I’m so short and not very good at the game, so I rarely started and took a lot of harsh criticism. This experience gave me confidence to push myself athletically, be part of a team, and stay committed.
Throughout the course of my life so far, I’ve incurred challenges like we all do to make big decisions like switching careers, moving across the county, or embarking on new adventures. The support of my friends, family, and looking for the best in people has taught me that there will always be something to learn and evolve into a better person.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I believe that motivation can be found anywhere and my path was never linear thankfully because that would be boring! I’m motivated by a healthy lifestyle and always gravitated towards this by running, working out and sharing my passion of fitness, yoga, and healthy food with people. My career started in the corporate marketing world, but after over 15 years of successful roles, I leaned into my passion to teach. I now instruct Vinyasa yoga, Power Pilates, and Barre classes. I am also a certified nutritionist. I love to write as a way to share knowledge and connect with like-minded people, so I started a blog with fitness expertise, healthy recipes, and mind-body connection.
I’m currently launching a new venture with nutrition based culinary classes, which will include in-person hands-on instruction. The classes will be experiential to help participants understand the value of incorporating wholesome plant-based ingredients into their meals. A professional chef will help guide the classes for a fun and interactive experience.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were discovering what brings me joy in life, what I want to share with others to make a positive impact, and gaining certifications and experience to deliver great results.
I would advise folks early in their journey to align with like-minded people on their path, get experience through education, coursework, and/or mentorship, and take some risks along the way.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I’d say that number one obstacle I’m facing currently is how to truly focus on my core business without interference with all the possibilities and options. I’d love to do so many things, but it’s key to narrow down to get to the heart of what I’m good at, while continuously evolving in the right direction. I’m fortunate to have a good support system and “cheerleaders” that want to see me succeed.
