Meet Megan K. Goldman

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Megan K. Goldman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Megan K., we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Hi friends! I’m Megan K., and my journey to discovering my purpose has been a truly beautiful and transformative experience. During the pandemic, I channeled my passion into creating a “how-to” lifestyle brand with a vision of bringing “Simple + Sustainable… In Your Kitchen & On Your Table” to as many people as possible. What started as a personal mission quickly evolved into a platform dedicated to helping others live more intentionally and sustainably.

Before the pandemic, I thrived in the fast-paced world of event production. For the last 18 years, I’ve owned and operated a successful production company, orchestrating large-scale, dynamic events around the globe. Known for my professionalism, creativity, and ability to execute from soup to nuts, I earned a reputation as a prominent producer. More than a few times, I was called a workaholic—and truthfully, I embraced it. I loved what I did and took immense pride in the caliber in which I did it.

Now I’ve channeled that same energy, passion, and attention to detail into building a brand that not only inspires, but also educates and empowers others to embrace a “tasteful not wasteful” approach, helping to design a more sustainable and meaningful way of life.

Then boom! 2020 hit… no more events and no more hustle. The world as I knew it had come to a screeching halt. Like so many others in my industry, I had to pivot. But what was next? While displaced in Florida, I felt the need to help those struggling and lacking resources. Drawing on my expertise and connections, I partnered with Miami restaurants to personally prepare and deliver meals to people living on the streets.

A few months later, I returned to my native California and began to reflect. I saw my own family and friends struggling to navigate life in this “new normal.” The fast-paced world I had once thrived in had slowed down, giving me a rare opportunity to look inward. In August 2020, I had my ‘Aha’ moment—one that reshaped my perspective and set me on a new path.

My priorities shifted, and above all, I wanted to show up as “an act of service” and help others. I started small, supporting those around me in practical ways. I developed simple, functional systems to help households streamline shopping, meal planning, and food prep—ultimately reducing waste and minimizing trips to the market. It felt organic. It felt purposeful. For the first time in a long time, I felt a deep sense of joy—an emotion I hadn’t fully embraced until I embarked on this journey.

I leaned into this shift with gratitude, knowing I would never get this time again. Each day became an opportunity for introspection and self-discovery. With the guidance of Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way,” facilitated by Gordon McGregor, I uncovered my true calling—one that blended my passion for cooking and entertaining with my purpose of helping others.

From there, I began to reinvent myself. As a producer at heart, I knew how to bring a vision to life—so I started producing “Megan K.” I educated myself on branding, photography, and digital storytelling. In April 2021, I launched my first social media account, @megankgoldman, sharing simple, sustainable solutions for everyday life. Shortly after, the Megan K. platform, www.megank.com, was born—a space dedicated to making a meaningful impact on people’s pockets, palates, and the planet.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

In essence, I was my audience—I needed someone like me to offer solutions and shortcuts. I didn’t have time to think about seasonal produce or food waste, but I wanted to. Consumed by the demands of my career and other aspects of life, I lacked the bandwidth to address these important, yet easily overlooked concerns.
My mission now is to share what I’ve learned and inspire others to transform their homes and lives into intentional, functional spaces. Through simple, sustainable solutions backed by quality resources, I’m here to empower and motivate communities to become their own agents of change. This approach not only helps individuals achieve their personal goals, but also fuels a larger movement of environmental and social mindfulness—creating a ripple effect of positive impact.

In a world where consumers are hungry for information on sustainable living, mindful practices, and conscious entertaining, the search for reliable, cohesive resources often feels overwhelming. Many existing options offer valuable insights, but they are often fragmented and lack a comprehensive approach. That’s where the Megan K. brand stands apart. My platform www.megank.com is designed to cut through the noise, provide clarity, and offer actionable solutions through a centralized one-stop resource. With an integrated “tasteful not wasteful” approach, that doesn’t sacrifice quality or style, I save consumers time, energy, and effort while delivering consistent, high-quality guidance.

The Megan K. brand goes beyond quick fixes and surface-level advice. Through on-demand and in-person masterclasses, workshops, curated seasonal experiences, and consulting, I focus on practical solutions that address the interconnected aspects of sustainable living from the kitchen to the table and beyond. By blending infotainment with educational resources, hands-on tools, and personalized support, I deliver an experience that not only meets but exceeds expectations.

So whether you want to simplify your kitchen, host with intention, or embrace a more sustainable way of living—I’m here for you and thrilled to be part of your journey!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’ve always been a big dreamer with the heart and soul of a true entrepreneur. As a tween, I went door to door in my neighborhood, handing out pamphlets listing all the odd jobs I could do. Starting at a young age I wanted to work and to create something of my own. So on my own accord, at 14, I juggled school and sports with a job at a medical billing agency. It may sound silly, but I loved wearing business casual, I felt empowered earning my own money—it made me feel so independent. A year later, despite my parents’ wishes, I took a cashier job at a local family-owned Italian restaurant. The deal being I stayed committed and focused on my studies and sports —and that’s what I did.

In 1996, I turned 16 and got my driver’s license, my first car (used, but new to me!), and an Audiovox mobile phone (for emergencies only, of course). My mom, expecting me to revel in my newfound freedom, asked, “Megan, aren’t you so excited to have your license? You can drive yourself to school, practices and work and go wherever you want!” I looked at her and confidently replied, “I’m excited to go to college on the East Coast!”

College was still two years away, and my family wasn’t supportive about my East Coast ambitions. But guess what? I made it happen. I received a partial scholarship at Wagner College in New York City. I graduated in four years with a BA in Literature with a double minor in Journalism and Political Science, and did it all on my own. And the best part? New York City is still my home.

I’ve never stopped dreaming, and that relentless drive is what has brought me here. But let’s be real—it hasn’t been all rainbows and unicorns. The journey has been filled with highs and lows, successes and failures. Yet through it all, I’ve held onto one thing: an unwavering belief in myself and my ability to accomplish whatever I set my mind to. No matter the obstacles, I persevere and make it happen.

At 27 years old, I took a leap of faith and started my own event production business. I became an LLC and jumped in headfirst—it was trial by fire. I had never really worked for someone in my industry, so working for myself felt both terrifying and completely right at the same time. There were no masterclasses, no step-by-step guides, no platforms to teach me how to be a business owner… I just went for it.

I am, and have always been, a hustler—solution-focused, determined, and relentless in pursuit of my goals. My mindset has always been: “If you can see it, if you can feel it in your bones, then it’s real. It can be yours. But you have to believe in it, believe in yourself, fight for it, and work for it—every single day.”
And then one day, you stop fighting and you start flowing. And when you find your flow—that’s when the magic happens.

In 2021, at the age of 41, I found my flow—and that’s when the magic happened. I had to let go of my fear of failure and perfectionism to truly embrace what I loved and wanted to do. As a producer, I was always behind the scenes, orchestrating and managing everything. I never wanted my name in the spotlight or my picture taken—my reputation, skills, and merits were enough. I felt safe being the wizard behind the curtain. My biggest fear? That if I put my name out there and failed, everyone would know.

Stepping fully into my power and taking an even scarier leap of faith—launching a “how-to” lifestyle brand with my name and face at the forefront—was, and still is, the most terrifying business move I’ve ever made. But it’s also the one that brings me the most joy.

Imposter syndrome is real, and I battle it more often than not. But I know what my purpose is, I feel my passion in my bones, and I know it’s real—because I built this brand on my own. And I love every minute of it. The best is yet to come.

My advice: Always believe in yourself! Follow your heart, dream big, and remember—it’s never too late to start, you just have to take the first step.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” didn’t just change my life—IT. CHANGED. MY. LIFE. I wouldn’t be where I am today, doing what I do, even answering this question, if I hadn’t taken Gordon McGregor’s facilitated course on her transformative self-help book.

Designed as a 12-week guided program, “The Artist’s Way” helps unblock creativity through daily practices like morning pages—stream-of-consciousness writing that taps into your inner creative potential. Blending elements of spirituality and personal reflection, it’s a powerful tool for overcoming creative blocks and rediscovering your artistic voice, no matter your medium.

At its core, the book cultivates curiosity, creative inquiry, and joy in everyday life. It encourages a growth mindset and deepens self-awareness. Most importantly, it taught me how to step out of my own way, acknowledge and accept my fears with tools to face them and overcome, reduce stress, and access a wellspring of inspiration and intuition. It led me to build a supportive community, discover my passion, and ultimately find my purpose.
