We recently connected with Megan Sousa and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Generosity, to me, embodies the essence of kindness and selflessness. Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by individuals who exemplify this virtue in various forms – be it friends, family, or even strangers who extended their generosity when least expected. Growing up with a strong spiritual foundation, I’ve found it natural to embody this principle as a woman of faith. After all, kindness knows no bounds and is universally accessible.
In my journey, I’ve discovered profound fulfillment in fostering community bonds and spreading positivity. Generosity, therefore, isn’t just a choice but an integral part of my purpose. It’s a joy to share what I have, whether it’s material possessions or intangible blessings, knowing that my actions can ripple positivity into someone’s life.
Ultimately, my aim is to lead by example, to ignite the spirit of giving in others. For in a world often overshadowed by self-interest, acts of generosity serve as beacons of hope, reminding us of the beauty in human connection and collective upliftment. Embracing generosity allows me to live abundantly, not just in material wealth but in the richness of contributing to the well-being of others.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a triple-threat artist, I wear multiple hats in the entertainment industry. Alongside my roles as a professional actress, comedian, and host, I proudly serve as the CEO of Laugh Your Truth Productions, LLC. Through years of honing my craft, I’ve mastered the art of curating comedy and crafting unforgettable entertainment experiences for audiences.
Our journey began in 2017 when we established LYT Comedy in the heart of Hollywood, California. Our mission was clear: to infuse the comedy scene with positivity and laughter. Since then, we’ve evolved into more than just a comedy brand; we’ve become a movement.
Now, we’re venturing into the digital realm, expanding our reach with original content, monthly live shows, and exciting merchandise offerings. Additionally, we’re gearing up to launch educational workshops, empowering aspiring comedians to find their voice and share their truth.
Laugh Your Truth isn’t just a label; it’s a philosophy—a commitment to spreading joy, fostering connection, and championing authenticity. Join us as we continue to push boundaries, break stereotypes, and redefine comedy one laugh at a time.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Identifying the three most crucial skills, qualities, and areas of knowledge is indeed a thought-provoking task. Here’s my take:
1. **Organizational Mastery**: The ability to maintain order and efficiency across various facets of your professional life is indispensable. Whether it’s juggling content production, managing workloads, or handling financial matters like taxes, being organized ensures that you’re always prepared and equipped to seize opportunities. Having all pertinent information readily accessible streamlines decision-making and facilitates smooth operations.
2. **Business Acumen**: In today’s artistic landscape, understanding the intricacies of the business side is paramount. Artists must familiarize themselves with the industry’s nuances, from navigating contracts to establishing and managing their own ventures. As a small business owner myself, I’ve found continuous education and mentorship invaluable in navigating uncharted territories. Fortunately, resources abound, from workshops to online tutorials, empowering artists to cultivate a strong entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in the business realm.
3. **Authenticity and Collaborative Spirit**: Authenticity is the cornerstone of building meaningful connections with audiences and potential collaborators. When you stay true to yourself, you naturally resonate with others, fostering a genuine bond that transcends mere transactions. Moreover, cultivating an easygoing demeanor and fostering a collaborative spirit engenders trust and reassurance among peers and potential collaborators. By embracing kindness, resilience, and the ability to differentiate professional matters from personal ones, you create an environment conducive to fruitful partnerships and mutual growth.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We’re continuously seeking to welcome talented and passionate individuals into our team. As we navigate this pivotal phase of our business, we have openings for volunteers, editors, street teams, and social media managers. If you’re eager to contribute your skills and enthusiasm to our mission, we’d love to hear from you. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey together, shaping the future of our endeavors with creativity and collaboration.
