We recently connected with Meghan Carrasquillo and have shared our conversation below.
Meghan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My parents instilled a really strong work ethic in myself from a young age. They definitely helped pave the way with my journey through life and this industry. My mentality with anything I do is to be the hardest worker in the room. I also believe my faith has made me become more self disciplined even when it comes to my own motives.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I grew up doing A LOT of theater. My parents knew my biggest dream was to be a performer. Whether it was on stage or in front of a camera, I just wanted to tell stories and make people feel something through those stories. My passion for acting, singing, and dancing was only ever expanding into a much greater love the older I got. I even started writing my own plays when I was a senior in high school. Now I’m in my twenties blessed to be working on movie set after movie set, getting to play a variety of different characters. I’m also writing a few screenplays myself that I’m really excited about. My goal is to venture into directing one of my own projects.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Persistence, perspective, and patience! That’s the best advice I would give towards anything in life. Learning to follow my gut intuition has been key. Always yearning to grow and learn more and get better is something I’m a huge advocate for. I’m always wanting to push myself out of my comfort zone and go ALL IN with anything I do.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
If I ever start to feel overwhelmed, I like to hit the pause and reset buttons. In order for me to give my best to others, then I have to BE my best. Whether it be mentally, physically, spiritually, I have to be aligned in all the right ways. Going back to what truly matters and what takes top priority. My faith and my relationships with my loved ones come first. My faith keeps me grounded. My loved ones hold and support me. Also, just throwing this out there, go to the beach or take a mountain walk outside if you ever feel overwhelmed. Breathe in fresh air and let the sunshine hit your face!
