We were lucky to catch up with Meghan Kylie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Meghan , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is something that is so painfully prevalent in our current society; particularly for artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs. We are consistently being conditioned to not believe in ourselves – a direct result of commercial capitalism, which profits off our self-doubt.
To be honest, I haven’t 100% overcome imposter syndrome, and I’m not sure if I ever full will.
However… I wrote an entire album about it!
“THIEF” released in January 2025 is my debut album diving into themes of validation, self-acceptance/finding self worth, battling severe imposter syndrome, and working through deep trauma. Releasing this album was ultimately an act of extreme vulnerability- and I believe that is how we can combat imposter syndrome- by doing it anyway; by creating anyway, even and especially when we don’t feel worthy.
I also have been reflecting on a quote from my good friend Miss Olivia (another local Philadelphia-based indie musician) who practices the mantra, “No one is above or below me.” Who are we trying to compete with as artists and small business owners? I have realized over the past year since releasing this album that there is no true competition. Sure, deeply ingrained capitalism instills in us the harmful mantras that we are always competing and that we constantly have to strive to be better and achieve more than the person next to us, but that isn’t really true!
When we focus on ourselves and shine our own beautiful light, we stop comparing and create better art, and our businesses start to thrive. We are worthy because we are, and that is one of the most beautiful truths of existence.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Music has been my source of comfort, joy and healing my entire life. When I was 15, I drew inspiration from femme-fronted rock artists such as Flyleaf & Paramore and knew that my calling was to write, sing, perform, record, tour & create music from the heart, in the hopes of empowering those who truly needed it as a source of healing.
I’ve been writing and singing for as long as I can remember, and currently mostly write songs & poems. I write for the human experience – and know the world needs my words and my song. I spent my entire sophomore year of high school writing a set of lyrics a day!
I truly write, and channel, and share my energy from my heart and believe in the power of healing through music, energy work, and art in general.
I’ve been practicing energy work from an early age without having the language to express what I’ve always been called to do. At one point in my life, I was told I couldn’t believe in angels.. but at 32 years old, as a small business owner, artist and entrepreneur, my calling has come full circle, and angels and Spirit truly guide me in all I do.
While my music is not inherently religious – it is deeply spiritual and encompasses emotion from my entire being.
Some background on how I got here: When I released my album in January 2025, I was celebrating my departure from the 9-5 world in January 2024. I had spent several years working in a field that completely depleted my spirit and left me completely drained. Now, I have the freedom and joy and excitement of being mostly self-employed, and I couldn’t be happier to finally be following my dreams!
THAT is what makes this so special. I want other artists/creatives/entrepreneurs to know that leaving the corporate 9-5 world *IS* possible. We live in a world of infinite possibilities, and our art deserves to be shared and experienced. I truly love the work I do and believe in the power of art, music, and energy work, and cannot wait to pass along the wisdom I have gained along the way.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three things that were most impactful in my journey have been:
1) My resilience/self awareness/personal growth
2) Overcoming imposter syndrome/my own self doubt
3) Developing the confidence to network/talk about my business.
Advice on resilience: Keep going. Nourish yourself. Learn the art of self care, and don’t be afraid to release control/attachment and let go of what no longer serves you. The universe’s plan for you might be different to what you are holding onto. Control is overrated, and change is the only constant.
Advice on overcoming self doubt: Do it anyway!!! Create for the sake of creating, do what lights you up, and release the need to compare yourself to others.
Advice on developing confidence in your business: Positive self talk/affirmations work wonders! The more you speak it into existence, the more likely you are to find the confidence to talk about it. Speaking your truth as a business owner / artist is the best thing you can do. Find the areas of your business you thrive in and focus on that. The more you talk about your business and share your message/truth, the more confident and natural it will become to bring it up – even to strangers in a coffee shop if the conversation flows in that direction! You can do anything you want – you have the skills and training, so just go for it!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! I am always looking for collaborations and more creative opportunities to showcase my art and work with other artists!
I am currently in the process of forming a full band- and we are still looking for a drummer (as of 12/12/25 around 12:30pm!) and possibly also a bassist!
Also, if anyone is creating a film or needs a musician or voice actor or poet or energy worker for any projects or events, please sent me a message!
