Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meghan Lamle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Meghan , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
It’s natural whenever you start something new to feel like you aren’t good at it.
When I started my business in 2019, I felt the same way. I had four years of sales experience but none in the online space. I was new. There was a huge learning curve in front of me. I was waiting for someone to find out I didn’t know what I was talking about.
What I realized was the majority of people who struggle with imposter syndrome… are actually imposters (until they aren’t.)
Even as I started to build my team and scale my business, I felt it.
Being the leader of a growing company keeps me out of my comfort zone so imposter syndrome likes to stop in from time to time.
It wasn’t until I created a mindset routine with hypnotherapy that I was able to work through the mindset drama.
Here’s what I learned:
You’re going to feel weird when your skills expand but the power is in recognizing it, moving through it and overcoming it. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try something new or expand what you’re doing. It just means you need strategies and a solid mindset routine to help you through it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Something I want my clients to feel in control of is how they can make more money with the time they have and by doing the things they already do. This is exactly what the focus of the Mission Income Mastermind is.
It isn’t about growing super fast, but instead building a long term sustainable business.
When clients join, they don’t always know where they want to be in 5 years. It can be a hard question, but it’s important to know where you’re going so you can make a plan to get there.
There’s no set framework for this plan because it looks different in every business. How you get to your goal, how you utilize marketing (in person or online), all of that changes from person to person.
The most expansive part of Mission Income is the retreat. It’s a chance for all the members to celebrate the hard work they accomplished over the past 6 months and deepen their relationships with the other members.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important skills or qualities that were most impactful in my journey are sales, planning, and leadership.
Sales, at its core, is communication. Being able to communicate and describe the value of what you do and how you do it.
If you’re someone who wants to get better at sales, you don’t need to read another sales book. You don’t need the perfect script. The secret is to get in the ring and practice over and over. It’s truly about repetition.
The other quality is planning. When you know where you’re going it’s a lot easier to stay focused and get where you want to be. Once you have a plan, you need the confidence to take messy action (even if you know it’s not going to be perfect). You can always change the plan if you need to.
The last piece is leadership because the experience you provide for clients, your team, and for the people who interact with your brand really matters.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m looking for other business owners who work with early stage business owners to be featured on the Salesy podcast. It’s a podcast for ambitious entrepreneurs and sales professionals looking to boost their sales game and grow their business.
I would also love to guest on more podcasts, facilitate in-person speaking events or lead guest training for your events and programs. See my speaking points and more at https://meghanlamle.com/press.
