We recently connected with Meghan Phelan and have shared our conversation below.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner of Granny NANNIES of South Florida, proudly serving families across Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys for nearly two decades. We provide private-duty home care that allows seniors to safely age in place while maintaining dignity and independence. What makes our service special is that it’s deeply personal to me; every client is treated like family. Our caregivers don’t just assist with tasks; they offer companionship, comfort, and peace of mind to families navigating some of life’s most delicate seasons.
In addition to my local home-care work, I’m also a Master Care Partner for Electronic Caregiver, an AI-driven, technology-based health and safety platform that brings together every leading tool in senior wellness and preventive care, all in one program. It includes PocketMD, bi-weekly wellness calls from licensed medical professionals, medication reminders, activity tracking, and emergency response features. Through this partnership, I’m able to extend my mission of proactive, compassionate care nationwide, helping families stay connected and protected wherever they are.
What excites me most is bridging the gap between traditional caregiving and modern wellness technology. I’m passionate about giving families options, whether that’s a trusted local caregiver by their side, advanced remote monitoring for safety and support, or both.
Beyond my companies, I’m also developing Meghan Phelan Official, a platform focused on resilience, women’s empowerment, and conscious caregiving. I’m preparing to launch a podcast that will blend stories of healing, advocacy, and human connection: conversations that remind others they can rebuild, reimagine, and rise stronger after life’s hardest moments.
At its core, everything I do, from in-home care to national wellness programs, is about one mission: helping people get back what matters most, quality time, safety, and peace of mind for the people they love.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have most shaped my journey are resilience, emotional intelligence, and strategic adaptability. Each one became a cornerstone through very different seasons of my life, from building my company, Granny NANNIES of South Florida, to navigating personal storms that completely redefined what strength means to me.
Resilience was the first. Entrepreneurship and caregiving both test your capacity to stay steady when things don’t go as planned. There were years when I had to show up for others while quietly fighting battles of my own, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Those experiences taught me that true strength isn’t about appearing unshaken; it’s about finding grace and forward motion even when everything around you is uncertain.
The second quality is emotional intelligence. Working in home care and advocacy requires deep empathy, the ability to sense what people need beyond what they say. Understanding emotions, both my own and others’, has shaped how I lead, how I mother, and how I connect with clients and caregivers alike. It’s what allows me to bring humanity into every professional decision and turn difficult moments into opportunities for compassion.
The third is strategic adaptability. The world of caregiving and wellness evolves quickly from AI-driven innovations like my partnership with Electronic Caregiver to the growing demand for preventive and virtual care. Staying curious, flexible, and willing to evolve has kept my work both relevant and deeply fulfilling.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple:
– Build your inner foundation first. The stronger your sense of self, the steadier you’ll be when life tests you.
– Lead with empathy, but protect your energy. You can serve others best when you’re also caring for yourself.
– Stay adaptable and open. Your purpose may remain constant, but your path will shift, and those shifts often lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
Every challenge I’ve faced has been a teacher, reminding me that purpose isn’t found in perfection; it’s found in persistence, alignment, and heart.
