Meet Mehrnam Rastegari

We were lucky to catch up with Mehrnam Rastegari recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Mehrnam, so happy to have you on the platform with us today and excited to chat about your lessons and insights. Our ability to make good decisions can massively impact our lives, careers and relationships and so it would be very helpful to hear about how you built your decision-making skills.

most of the time in my life, I don’t pay attention to “not important things”. so it makes it much faster and less challenging. and after some time my brain learned to be like that automatically.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m mostly focused on performing and composing music, as well as teaching my knowledge to my students about the Persian music Dastgahs, which comes from my heritage from back home.
the most exciting moments are being on the stage or being part of a project that means a lot to me.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

first of all how to play an instrument well, then you need to be creative about how to make it sound better and which areas you would like to explore, I wanted to explore Rock music with having a Persian traditional musical instrument in the leading role.
then I tried to learn how to connect to other people, how to not just work with them but feel good when we are collaborating. feel responsible even it’s not my composition, how to be a band leader but a player too.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
