Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mei Tang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mei, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?
Communicating effectively comes from all levels of relationships in life. From learning how to communicate with family, friends, associates, business, and all other types of relationships in my life, it has created a path for me to realize how we need to be able to communicate clearly, so that relationships are always being evolved an elevated together.
Of course, this wasn’t all easy and my answers sounds a lot easier than what it is. Through lots of different challenges and waves of seeing differently in the different relationships. I’ve had in my life, it’s changed a lot of my perspective, and how much I also am viewed and perceived to the people around me. a big part of it is also having empathy toward the people that I communicate with. At the end of the day, no matter what type of relationship it is, it’s all relevant and is related to learning how to get your message across and also listen to what they have to say.
In fact, being able to listen more than being able to communicate, is definitely in someways more important to embody because of the fact that communication also involves listening. As they say, “God made us with two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we speak”. With that being said, this was one of those things that I do my best to remember in any type of communication with others.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I wear many hats in the main part of this is because I enjoy doing so many different things. Some of my titles may include being a business consultant, a spiritual advisor, a dance choreographer, and an events director.
My brand for events is called Vegan Holistic @veganandholistic on Instagram and @gemivision for my Spiritual Advisor work. I also am my own brand and known as “Playmeite” @playmeite on Instagram. As an artist / creator, I’d like to say that I put myself in places where the Universe calls me to. Everything that I do and everything that I am is related to “giving back” and sharing with the world on how to be more creative, inspired, healthy, motivated, and much more. Vegan Holistic is a place where we bring other performers, artist, vegan food, vendors, and holistic vendors together in one place for people to enjoy and have a great time. With gemivision it was created, so that people have a place to come to where they can seek spiritual guidance as well as be inspired to getting the tools that they need to be in alignment with where they need to be. My mission is to bring all of these things together and share with the world people that do what I do and are on the same mission in creating a higher consciousness for the world.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Being able to get uncomfortable and step out of the norm in your life.
2. Thinking outside of the box and doing the things that other people around you are not doing.
3. Being completely OK going down with being unique and defining yourself as your own individual instead of him being someone that society wants you to be.
The best advice that I can give to develop these skills is all in the same answer, and that is to get to know yourself more than anyone else knows you. The moment you start to take time to know who you are, what you are, what you like, what your boundaries are, where you come from, and all the other things in between is how you can define these things and more. Knowledge of self is the key to success. We can always learn more of what we need to know outside of us, and as important as that is, knowing YOU is what will take you to the levels others may not reach. There is no book, class, training out there about YOU.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am here to create and build a community of people who are like-minded, and also looking to create unity within our cultures and what we can bring to the table.
From musicians, Healers, writers, educators, students, artist, creatives, technology experts, investors, plant-based businesses, and much more anyone and everyone that has read this and feels the need to reach out and collaborate is some thing I am open to. I am a true believer of knowing that when there is a calling and we follow, we all collide for reasons bigger than us. As I’ve always followed this path, I’m open to future collaborations in visions of uniting with one another beyond what I can currently see.
