We were lucky to catch up with Mekhi Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mekhi, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from both my parents and grandparents. They’ve sacrificed so much for me to be better off in my life and and I’m so grateful for them.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
So I am a lifestyle photographer/videographer which is something that I’ve been pursuing professionally since my 10th grade year of high school. I think the most exciting part about what I do is being able to meet artists and other creatives because it’s great way to make connections and build good relationships with others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important skills that were most impactful in my journey would be networking, being professional and being prepared. My advice for people to improve on these skills is to just get out and start shooting. Another thing to is to starting promoting your work often and people will pay attention.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was still being able to be there for and my sister no matter how old we get they still help us and support us in anything we do.
