We were lucky to catch up with Mela Clark – Pitts recently and have shared our conversation below.

Throughout Mela’s profound expedition of the soul, she has acquired a profound understanding and conviction that our innate talents and passion bestowed upon us by God, should serve as the driving force behind our life’s mission and purpose.
Since 2023, Mela has wholeheartedly devoted herself to aligning her life’s mission and purpose with her company’s endeavors.
Events By Clark mission is to promote the awareness of prostate cancer in African American men. Mela has a personal connection to this cause, as she has tragically lost both her grandfather and father to prostate cancer.
Determined to make a difference, Mela has decided to use her passion for executing luxury events to not only promote awareness but also donate a portion of the company’s proceeds to a non-profit organization that focuses on direct support, research, awareness, early detection, and health equity. Prostate cancer is a significant health issue, particularly among African American men.
According to the American Cancer Society, African American men are more likely to develop prostate cancer and have a higher mortality rate compared to men of other ethnicities. This alarming disparity highlights the urgent need for increased awareness, early detection, and access to quality healthcare for this vulnerable population.
Throughout heartfelt conversations with her valued clients, Mela passionately shares her company’s mission, hoping to inspire them to advocate for the importance of regular screening.

Events By Clark was established in 2013 by Mela Clark-Pitts. Mela’s journey into the events industry began when she decorated events for friends, which sparked her passion for creating memorable experiences. Since then, Events By Clark has grown to provide luxury rentals, coordination, decor, and planning services for a variety of events. Since 2013, Mela and her exceptional team have flawlessly orchestrated numerous corporate events, personal events, and wedding, consistently delivering unparallel customer service.
With a clear vision in mind, Mela persistently pursues the expansion of Events By Clark, strategically continuing to assemble a talented team and expanding their inventory of luxurious rentals to better serve their clients. In parallel, she is diligently laying the groundwork for an extravagant gala that not only aims to generate profits but also to raise awareness about the importance of men’s health and gather funds for the ongoing battle against prostate cancer. Furthermore, Mela actively engages with a non-profit organization, collaborating to identify innovative ways to amplify awareness within the Houston community and make a lasting impact.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the world of management consulting, where expertise and experience are highly valued, Mela Clark-Pitts has emerged as a prominent figure. With over 17 years of experience in this field, she has showcased her exceptional skills and knowledge in managing programs seamlessly. Graduating from HBCU Bowie State University in Bowie, MD, in 2005 with a bachelor’s in science, she further honed her skills by obtaining a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a concentration in program management in 2010.
Throughout her professional journey, Mela Clark-Pitts has demonstrated her exceptional skills in managing programs effectively. Her experience in this field has allowed her to handle events seamlessly, particularly weddings. By leveraging her expertise in program management, she ensures that every aspect of an event is meticulously planned and executed, leaving no room for errors or mishaps. Her ability to manage programs flawlessly has earned her a reputation as a reliable and efficient professional in the industry.

Behind every successful individual, there are often parents who have made significant sacrifices to shape their children’s lives. Mela Clark-Pitts, the owner of Events By Clark, understands this truth wholeheartedly. She attributes her success and values to the unwavering support and guidance of her parents, who instilled in her the importance of hard work, faith, and love.
A Mother’s Faith and Trust in God: Mela’s mother, an educator and counselor in the Goose Creek School District for over 30 years, played a pivotal role in shaping her daughter’s character. Throughout her life, Mela’s mother emphasized the importance of trusting God in all decisions and circumstances. Her unwavering faith and reliance on a higher power taught Mela the power of surrendering control and finding strength in faith. This invaluable lesson has guided Mela through challenges and uncertainties, reminding her to trust in God’s plan.
A Father’s Lesson in Hard Work:
Mela’s father, a dedicated public servant, served as a Harris County Precinct 3 Constable for over 20 years. His commitment to his work and the community left an indelible impression on Mela. Witnessing her father’s tireless efforts and dedication taught her the value of hard work and the rewards it brings. His example inspired her to pursue her dreams with determination and perseverance, knowing that success is earned through dedication and a strong work ethic.
Above all, Mela is immensely grateful for the love and support her parents showered upon her and her siblings. Their unwavering presence and encouragement provided a solid foundation for Mela’s personal and professional growth. Their belief in her abilities and their constant encouragement fueled her ambition and gave her the confidence to pursue her dreams fearlessly. Mela recognizes that her parents’ love and support have been instrumental in her success.
