We recently connected with Melani Savich and have shared our conversation below.

Melani, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose didn’t happen overnight, it was something that slowly revealed itself as I started working with clients and seeing the impact my work had on them. I’ve always loved the art and creativity behind makeup, but I realized my deeper purpose when I began specializing in bridal makeup. There’s something incredibly meaningful about helping someone feel beautiful and confident on one of the most important days of their life. Being part of that experience, knowing I helped create a moment they’ll remember forever—that’s when I knew this was more than just a job for me. It’s about connection, emotion, and bringing out the best in people through my artistry.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a professional makeup artist and licensed esthetician, and I specialize in bridal and special occasion makeup through my business, Melicious Makeup & Esthetics. My journey into the beauty industry started with a love for creativity and self-expression, and originally, I had dreams of working in the fashion and modeling world. I trained in New York at Makeup Designory with the goal of doing makeup for runway shows and editorial shoots but like many others, my path shifted during the pandemic. While those opportunities were on pause, I began focusing on bridal makeup and quickly discovered how deeply rewarding that work could be.

What I find most exciting about my career now is the personal connection I get to build with each client. Being trusted to play a role in someone’s wedding day or special event is such an honor. I take pride in creating looks that reflect each person’s unique beauty and style. No two faces are the same, and that’s what keeps my work fresh and inspiring every day.

Currently, I’m focused on growing my bridal makeup business, booking weddings for 2025 and 2026, and providing esthetic services like facials, lash lifts, and brow shaping. These services allow me to help people feel confident in their skin, not just for a big event, but in their everyday lives as well.

I’m still passionate about the fashion industry and would love to explore more opportunities in that space in the future. Whether it’s working on editorial shoots, backstage at fashion shows, or collaborating with other creatives, I’m always open to where this path leads. I’m excited about what’s ahead and proud of how far I’ve come!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been adaptability, strong communication, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Adaptability was essential, especially when the pandemic shifted everything. I had to pivot from pursuing a career in film, fashion and editorial makeup to building a bridal-focused business, and that change taught me to stay open minded and resilient when things don’t go as planned.

Communication has also been huge. Whether it’s understanding a client’s vision, setting clear expectations, or creating a calm, positive atmosphere on a hectic wedding morning, being able to listen and communicate well has made all the difference.

Lastly, continuous learning has kept me growing. The beauty industry is always evolving, so staying curious and investing in education, whether that’s new techniques, skincare knowledge, or business skills, has helped me stay confident and competitive.

For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice is: be patient with yourself and your path. Stay open to new directions, take the time to build relationships, and never stop learning. Success in this field is just as much about people and mindset as it is about talent.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

There have been a few incredibly important people in my life who have helped me overcome challenges and develop the skills I needed to grow, personally and professionally.

First and foremost, my parents. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love, support, and belief in me. They’ve always encouraged me to pursue what makes me happy, even when the path wasn’t easy or clear. As business owners themselves, I’ve learned so much by watching how they operate—how they stay consistent, treat people, and adapt through challenges. I’ve tried to take in some of their mindset and strategies and apply them to how I run my own business. Their work ethic, values, and the way they treat their clients have been a huge inspiration to me.

I also have to mention my boyfriend, Cameron. He constantly pushes me to go further with my passion and supports me in everything I do. He genuinely believes in me, even in moments when I doubt myself and always looks for ways to help improve my business or take it to the next level. He’s the first person to encourage me to try something new, remind me of how far I’ve come, or celebrate a win with me. I look up to him a lot—his drive, his creativity, and the way he sees potential in everything really motivates me to keep growing.

And I can’t forget my sister, Melisa. She set up so much of my business behind the scenes, from organizing my schedule to helping me streamline my booking system and taught me countless practical skills along the way. I’m endlessly grateful to have a sister who’s willing to jump in and assist whenever I need it, Whether it’s tackling business tasks or troubleshooting tech issues.

Having these three in my corner, has made all the difference, especially when you’re building something of your own. Their guidance, practical help and unwavering belief in me keep me grounded, focused and excited for whatever comes next!
