We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melanie Benyahya. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melanie below.
Melanie, thank you so much for making time for us today. We’re excited to discuss a handful of topics with you, but perhaps the most important one is around decision making. The ability to make decisions is a key requirement for anyone who wants to make a difference and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your decision-making skills.
I used to be a very indecisive person, constantly asking others for their opinions and struggling to figure out the best option. But something changed within me a few years ago. Tired of trying to please everyone, I began reconnecting with my body and intuition. By aligning more closely with my true self and purpose, making decisions has become much easier. Staying grounded and gaining perspective by looking at the bigger picture also helps me make more meaningful choices.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a creative who loves bringing to life projects full of meaning. I mainly work as a Creative Director focused on the music industry and as a Tattoo Artist. My practice is all connected—from choosing colors and experimenting with media to the books I’m reading.
I believe you can’t separate art from the artist; everything we are becomes part of what we create. I’ve always been drawn to nature, philosophy, and psychology and have been on a quest to find the deeper meaning in things. I think this is inevitably reflected in my art.
It’s exciting to allow myself to play and keep experimenting. There’s always something new to learn.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most impactful qualities have been having a vision, being determined to accomplish it, and staying committed to it.
My advice would be: if you truly want to do something—whether it’s learning a new skill, creating a project, or launching a product—you will find a way to make it happen. Perseverance and resilience are key.
Being a full-time artist has its ups and downs, and you have to be ready for both.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! I’m about to move to NYC, and I’m excited to connect with new people—whether in the US, Europe, or anywhere in the world! Social media brings us closer than ever, so we could collaborate remotely, but it would be amazing to connect in person too.
If you’re looking for someone to help you launch an event—from ideation to execution, including design—or if you want to create a photo or video shoot, or work on any creative endeavor and vibe with my work, let’s chat!
Or we can just go for a walk in nature, observe plants, and nerd out about them.
