Meet Melanin Amor

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melanin Amor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Melanin , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When it came to me naturally. My gift was instilled in me mostly by others recognizing and motivating my talent. I was recognized by others when I felt I looked my worst and was told that I have a natural gift. My first time on a runway great. I would say I really knew it was for me when I went to audition for a show in N.Y. Fall 2022 and was invited to audition for a show in Paris the same year without management, just on my own personality, demeanor and walk.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I would like to start off by saying I’m at worker bee. I wear many hats and I have many special. The one I would like to emphasize on is my connection with people. I’m currently working on my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in hopes to develop a programs specialized in arts, physical activity and therapy. That’s my first passion. I currently model as a release, coping skills or hobby I just so happen to be great at and better at teaching it. So my counseling skills intertwine with modeling due to the connection, rapport and relationships I build with others in the field. I get a lot of fulfillment out of it. Modeling is like my alter ego, I turn into a different person in front of the camera or on a stage.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Communication is the most important skill I believe. Followed by integrity and ending with being accountable, professionalism and being trustworthy. These skills carry me along way as I make my connections through the modeling industry and I think they speak for themselves. People can be very spiteful, conniving, they steal and quite frankly they can be just plain mean in this business. How you treat people, how you communicate to them and your demeanor will get you a long way.

The advice I would give is stay true to yourself, stay cool, keep it cute, be kind and stay focused and determined. There are many distractions and detours planted to keep you from being great.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am always looking to connected, build and share my creative ideas and talent with others. I would like to connect with people who think outside of the box, who aren’t afraid to take a risk, and try something new. Be EXTRA, like me. I also need to them to overall be a good person, no crabs in a bucket for me. That’s most important. I don’t throw shade on others and I don’t want people around me who do that.
