Meet Melinda Matticoli

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melinda Matticoli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Melinda, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by prioritizing time off when needed and surrounding myself in communities and with people who inspire me. I feel being in community where we all want to mutually uplift each other has also been so helpful for my journey.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a professional choreographer and dancer working out of New York City and Los Angeles! I am passionate about creating genuine communities and bringing dance back to being fun. Through my work, I hope to spread joy to others across various media platforms. I am currently working on a few new film projects! To keep up with my work, feel free to follow me on Instagram, @melindamatticoli, and check out my website https://www.melindamatticoli.com

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Some qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that were impactful to my journey were the ability to professionally communicate with others, being honest, and being supportive of others. In my journey thus far, I have learned that it truly is all about who you know and not what you know, so being able to be known as a reliable and supportive person has helped me to get a lot of opportunities.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to in the future get into more TV/Film work, and work with more musicians! I have such a passion for film and I would love to continue working in this area. Music is also something that inspires me so much as a creator, and I would love to work more with musicians in a collaborative way. If you are interested in working together, please email me!
