Meet Melissa Armstrong

We recently connected with Melissa Armstrong and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My journey to discovering my purpose was anything but straightforward—it was born from pain, loss, and a desire to turn my struggles into something meaningful. Growing up in an environment marked by trauma, I learned early on how deeply our mental, emotional, and physical health are connected. Those experiences left me with a choice: I could let the pain define me, or I could rise above it.

My healing process began when I surrendered my burdens to God and leaned into faith. Jesus became the anchor that steadied me through the storm. As I healed, I started seeing my story differently—not as something to hide but as a way to help others who might be walking a similar path.

I realized my purpose lies in helping others heal. As a trauma-informed functional health coach, I now guide women and families toward overcoming chronic stress and trauma. It’s not just about health for me—it’s about creating hope. I feel called to show others that even the most broken parts of our lives can become the foundation for something beautiful.

Purpose isn’t something I found; it’s something I grew into by listening to the lessons life was teaching me and allowing God to shape the path forward. My pain became my calling, and now I wake up every day with gratitude that I get to live it out.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As a trauma-informed functional health coach, my work is centered on helping women and families heal from the effects of chronic stress and trauma. I guide my clients through a holistic journey that includes mind-body healing, nervous system regulation, nutrition, detoxification, and spirituality. By combining practical tools with deep emotional support, I help them reclaim their health, find balance, and create a life that feels aligned with their true purpose.

What excites me most about my work is the transformation I witness in my clients. It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone go from feeling overwhelmed and disconnected to regaining a sense of inner peace and vitality. The tools I offer—whether it’s somatic healing practices, mindset shifts, or nourishing food—are designed to empower my clients to take charge of their healing journey in a way that’s deeply personal and sustainable.

My brand, Holistic Health LLC, is all about connection, healing, and empowerment. I’m committed to providing not just a service, but a community where people can feel supported and understood. The holistic approach I take blends science and spirituality, making it both practical and meaningful.

In addition to writing my first book, a memoir, I’m currently working on expanding my MENDS program, which focuses on Mindset, Exercise, Nutrition, Detox, and Somatic Healing. It’s a powerful framework that’s been life-changing for my clients, and I’m thrilled to offer even more resources to support their growth and transformation.

Above all, I want people to know that healing is possible. No matter where you are on your journey, there is always hope and a way forward.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, faith, and emotional intelligence. Each of these played a crucial role in my ability to overcome challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth.

Resilience
Resilience was key in helping me navigate through life’s hardest moments. It allowed me to bounce back, keep going, and never give up, even when it felt impossible. It wasn’t about avoiding difficulty, but about learning how to move through it without losing sight of my goals or sense of self.
Advice: To develop resilience, start by shifting your mindset. Instead of seeing challenges as roadblocks, view them as opportunities to grow. Practice self-compassion, and remember that setbacks are part of the journey—not the end of it. Resilience builds with time, so be patient with yourself.

Faith
Faith, particularly my relationship with God, was the cornerstone of my healing. It provided me with a sense of purpose, hope, and direction that nothing else could. Having faith allowed me to trust in the process, knowing that I didn’t have to walk alone.
Advice: Whether it’s faith in God, a higher power, or yourself, nurturing that belief is crucial. Spend time reflecting, praying, or meditating on what you believe in. Trust that there is something greater guiding you, and don’t be afraid to lean into it when times get tough.

Emotional Intelligence
Understanding and managing my emotions helped me connect to my body, mind, and spirit in a deep, meaningful way. Emotional intelligence allowed me to process past trauma and navigate present challenges with awareness and compassion.
Advice: To develop emotional intelligence, start by becoming more aware of your emotions and how they influence your behavior. Practice mindfulness to stay present, and give yourself space to feel without judgment. Journaling, talking with a therapist, or working with a coach can also help in understanding and managing your emotions.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to be gentle with yourself. Healing and growth take time, and it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away. Focus on building these qualities, one step at a time, and trust that you are exactly where you need to be. Your journey is unique, and each small step you take brings you closer to the person you are meant to become.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is ready and willing to take responsibility for their own healing journey, even if they’re unsure where to begin. They are often women and families who have experienced trauma, chronic stress, or burnout and are seeking a holistic, personalized approach to reclaim their health and well-being. They value the mind-body connection and are open to integrating spirituality into their healing process.

The ideal client for me is someone who is committed to making lasting changes in their life. They may be feeling overwhelmed or stuck but are motivated to break free from limiting patterns, whether it’s poor health, negative self-talk, or unresolved emotional wounds. They understand that true healing requires a blend of mindset shifts, practical tools, and a willingness to dive deep into emotional and physical well-being.

They are also open to exploring and incorporating new practices, such as somatic healing, nutrition adjustments, and nervous system regulation techniques, into their daily life. They’re looking for a partner to guide them with compassion, expertise, and a deep understanding of their journey.

The clients I work best with are those who feel ready to transform—not just their health, but their entire outlook on life. They’re motivated by a desire to feel whole, aligned, and empowered, and they are eager to develop a deeper connection with themselves, their faith, and their purpose.
