Meet Melissa Barker

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Barker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa below.

Melissa, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
After years of working in marketing for major corporations, I branched out to create my own company and in the process realized how little there was in terms of services, support, and community for women. I knew I wanted to change that. I founded Women Entrepreneurs Inc. (WE Inc) with a profound mission to be a catalyst for empowering women to step boldly into the spotlight, get visible (maybe for the first time in their lives), grow their businesses, and turn their passions into tangible profits. I want to celebrate the strength and resilience of women but also provide them with the tools, resources, and support needed to flourish in their entrepreneurial pursuits. This venture is more than just a business; it’s a testament to the unyielding belief that when women uplift each other, the possibilities are endless, and the impact is immeasurable.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
WE Inc. offers proven branding and marketing solutions and coaching for women all in the pursuit of empowering women to get #VISIBLE—without being an egomaniac or doing anything that doesn’t feel aligned with their values and brand. At WE Inc., we are a little obsessed with helping women truly step into the limelight—and all of the beauty, growth, and success that comes with that.

From done-for-you services to launch packages to getting women on stage to speak, WE Inc. offers a unique hybrid of options so that we can help women get started, no matter where they’re at in business. Additionally, WE Inc. is proud to offer hands-on strategy and coaching through quarterly or annual memberships for coaches, consultants, and service providers ready to get #VISIBLE!

My new book, “Why #VISIBLE Women Will Win” guides women entrepreneurs to make their mark on the world in a way that feels authentically aligned with who they are and the story they want to tell.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. An entrepreneurial spirit: It takes grit to own and run your own business, and I think having the “never back down” attitude helps when forging ahead, even when it feels hard.

  1. Passion: I absolutely LOVE what I do. From the creative side to the strategic planning, I geek out on all things marketing and branding; and my passion for uplifting other women, and seeing them thrive doing the things they love most in life, is unwavering. Marrying the two of those into WE Inc. was the foundation for success.
  2. Happiness: I find joy in what I do… and in life. I make time for small moments of happiness and fun, and I make sure life isn’t all work work work. From sharks tooth hunting with my kids to traveling with my husband, I want to infuse joy into everything I do, and I make sure my clients feel that energy when working with me.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My Ideal client is a woman who’s ready to go all in on herself; a woman who owns a business and knows she and her business are worthy of stepping into the spotlight, getting visible, and taking the steps to scale so that SHE can serve others with her passions, expertise, and specific skills.

This doesn’t mean I need a client to be ecstatic or naturally inclined to get #VISIBLE—I understand that takes time, and even the most seasoned CEOs are painfully introverted to the point that becoming visible feels hard. I just need women who see the value and ROI in becoming#VISIBLE… and who trust me to help them get there in a way that feels authentic and purposeful.
