Meet Melissa Guerrero

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melissa Guerrero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Melissa, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from watching my mother build her own business from the ground up. I witnessed her carry an entire household on her back while showing up every day with grace and quiet strength. She never complained, never looked for shortcuts, she just kept showing up. Years later, she became incredibly successful in her field, and not because things were handed to her, but because she earned it. That modeled something powerful for me.

So when it came time to build my own path, I already had that blueprint in my blood. I’ve faced burnout, financial pressure, and the emotional toll of growing something from nothing. But I always knew: if she could do it, I could too. I’ve taken that same discipline and heart and poured it into my own business.

Now, I get to hold space for my clients through skin, confidence, and care but behind every treatment is a woman who had to fight to get here. That’s where the resilience comes from: legacy, drive, and the decision to keep showing up even on the hard days.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the owner and creator of Melissa’s Glow Alchemy, a skincare and beauty studio rooted in results, realness, and radiance. What makes my work special is how deeply personal it is for both me and my clients. I don’t just offer facials or makeup. I create an experience that helps people feel seen, cared for, and confident in their skin.

What excites me most about my work is witnessing the transformation that happens not just on the surface, but in how someone carries themselves after a session. I’ve had clients come in feeling tired, stressed, or self-conscious, and leave with a glow that’s more than skin deep. That kind of shift is why I do what I do.

Professionally, I’m focused on advanced corrective skincare, specializing in treatments like oxygen infusion, micro-current, chemical peels, and targeted therapies using clinical-grade skincare from DermaQuest and medical-grade formulations from ZO Skin Health. I also offer luxury makeup services, especially for weddings and special events, where my clients trust me to show up with skill and intention.

At the heart of it, my work blends science, art, and a little energy. I hold space for people to look and feel like the best version of themselves without pressure, without perfectionism. Just glow, confidence, and care.

I’m currently offering a new service called the Alchemy Sculpt & Glow Facial, which combines lymphatic drainage with oxygen infusion to promote deep detox, sculpting, and radiant skin. It’s become a client favorite and reflects the direction my brand is going toward treatments that are both effective and deeply restorative.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most important things that have shaped my journey are resilience, client communication, and continuing education.

Resilience has been everything. Owning a business comes with high points and hard seasons. I’ve learned how to keep showing up even when things felt uncertain, even when I was figuring it out as I went. That mindset of “adapt and keep going” has carried me through every pivot and expansion.

Client communication has also been key. I realized early on that it’s not just about the service you provide. It’s about how you make people feel. Listening, educating, and holding space for your clients makes a lasting impact. People remember how you cared for them, not just what products you used.

Lastly, continuing education has helped me evolve and stay confident in my craft. Whether it’s learning about new modalities, deepening my product knowledge, or understanding skin on a clinical level, investing in my growth has directly benefited my clients. It’s not just about staying relevant, it’s about staying rooted in your “why” as your skills grow.

My advice? Stay teachable. Be resilient. And lead with care, not ego. That combination will carry you further than any perfect plan ever could.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who values the experience just as much as the results. They’re the kind of person who wants to feel taken care of, not rushed. They understand that real skincare is a process and they’re open to learning, trusting, and showing up for their skin with consistency.

I love working with people who are kind, respectful, and open-minded. Clients who come in with curiosity, rather than expecting quick fixes. I pour a lot of intention into my services whether it’s a facial or a full glam session so I really appreciate when someone respects my time and trusts my expertise.

What makes someone ideal for me isn’t just about skin type or budget, it’s about energy. My favorite clients are the ones who walk in with honesty, let their guard down a little, and walk out feeling seen and radiant.
