Meet Melissa Lucas

We were lucky to catch up with Melissa Lucas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Melissa, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
There is a quote “Service to others is the rent we pay for our room on Earth,” by Mohammed Ali. This quote is something I abide by and give generously to those who need it. We are all meant to lift each other up and help others when they need it. I know by helping others I can make them feel good. We aren’t meant to be selfish with our time and resources, we are meant to help others thrive. If we thrive and don’t help others, what is the point. Put effort into being generous to others and you won’t ever regret it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a mindset coach and author, I am focused on making others lives the best they can be and finding real happiness that is deeper and more fulfilling. As someone that has been through a lot of struggle and challenges earlier in my life, I was able to overcome them by looking for deeper meaning and purpose in my life. The key to success and happiness is finding your why and deeper understanding of what you’re meant to do in your lifetime.

I’m currently working on launching a new podcast, updated website as well as offerings and writing my second book. All will be available in the fall except for the book which will be out next year.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important skills I have learned are resilience, honesty, and self awareness. These skills have allowed me to overcome the worst of times, see my mistakes for what they truly are and to make sure that I have a clear understanding of myself to help myself make the necessary adjustments to live better and not make the same again.

The best thing a person can do is understand their decisions, own their mistakes, and have the self perception to better themselves rather than be in denial.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
The biggest challenge I am currently facing is trying to reinvent my brand and my business. After being an entrepreneur and working for 10 years in my current business, I want to have a fresh take on my work and how people view me. So I’m digging into what I truly want that to be and how that’s going to define me moving forward. But I do know that I want to leave a legacy behind of helping change lives by helping others live better and have more opportunities to create their dreams.
