Meet Melissa Mosquera

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melissa Mosquera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Melissa, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Developing my confidence and self-esteem is definitely a work in progress. When I was in my early twenties, a lot of the decisions I made were influenced by others and my environment—and not in a good way. I wanted to fit into a mold that wasn’t necessarily for me, and that’s normal because you’re in that “mess-up age.” Thanks to all those experiences, I started to know myself on a deeper level, and something magical happened: I realized I really like who I am. I began the journey of loving myself and doing things for me, not to please others. Now that I’m in my thirties, I can look back and better understand a lot of situations that brought me to where I am today. I can say that simply trying to be my authentic self in every situation has made me more and more confident day by day. It’s a beautiful journey.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an architect specializing in both residential and commercial design and interior design. I work independently at my own firm, Traza Studio, which I am very proud of because it has helped me grow as a person on every level, from the business to the personal.
Ever since I was little, I always imagined having my own business related to something in design, and life unfolded in such a way that I have fulfilled and continue to build that dream.
I became an entrepreneur by accident; I just wanted to have control over my own schedule and decisions. Before I knew it, I had projects of all scales with real clients and responsibilities, LOL.
I love being able to use my creativity to improve people’s lives. At the studio, we bring our clients’ dream spaces to life, and that feels incredible. There is still a long road ahead, and I like to believe that Traza Studio is an extension of myself—it’s a tool that allows me to take my designs to new levels and to share with others. I don’t know where this constant evolution will lead, but it excites me.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

-Knowing how to listen is a quality that brings success in any field. Developing this skill opens up a whole world of connection with yourself and others.
-Don’t forget that you are more than your work. We must continue to care for ourselves and grow personally; this fuels the soul and also supports our professional development.
-Kindness will take you further than you can imagine.”

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

At this moment, we are facing the next step in growing the company, and I mean in every area. It’s a big challenge because we’re stepping into the unknown. This requires stepping out of my comfort zone, investing time and money, which can be a bit intimidating. We have to constantly remind ourselves that it’s a process to approach step by step. Sometimes, looking at the whole picture can be overwhelming. I also firmly believe that if your dreams don’t scare you a little, they’re not big enough.
