Meet Melissa Sharee

We recently connected with Melissa Sharee and have shared our conversation below.

Melissa, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
From a young age I was aware of the things that I loved to do. My mother was instrumental in exposing me to a variety of people, places and experiences that gave me the opportunity to find what I love early in life. I believe we are innately wired to love the things that fall in line with our purpose. The challenge is growing in confidence about our ability to naturally do what we are purposed for and trusting the process as we learn to move in purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I lead Creative M Projects, a nonprofit organization transforming artists from the inside, out. We train and equip artists to develop their craft and grow stronger mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Willingness to make learning in every area a life-long process, commitment to live what matters, Faith in God; My advice to anyone early in their journey is that a journey takes a long time – not days, but years. Figure out how to prepare yourself to keep moving forward longer than you expect. Train yourself to be patient and wait for little things, knowing that the larger things you are working for will take even more time. Become a master at encouraging yourself while you wait, telling yourself the necessary things you need to hear to not quit – and when you are weak at positive self-talk … find one or two people you trust that can encourage you when you need it most. Most importantly believe in something bigger than yourself. We have limitations, but when we move with a higher source beyond our limits what can be accomplished and shared is extraordinary.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
As controversial as this book has been for generations, the bible continues to be my source for knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Even at times when I don’t fully understand the ancient writings and context, somehow it begins to make sense and take form the more I read over time and experience life. The bible is so rich when it comes to stories of times past that are relevant today. It has been a playbook for every situation, circumstance and question and I continue to search through it daily.
