Meet Meliza Mokrani

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meliza Mokrani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meliza below.

Hi Meliza, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is something I never understood before becoming an entrepreneur. I simply couldn’t relate to people speaking about it. But now I understand it. I had a difficult time naming the sense of insecurity, doubt, self-judgment, and anxiety I felt. It was uncomfortable and challenging to be with. Once I realized what it was, I was able to transmute it into something positive. Whenever I experience imposter syndrome, I allow my feelings to flow as opposed to suppressing them. Once I experience the initial feelings, I focus on practices that help ground my nervous system and my emotions. Methods that work for me include writing, breathwork, time in nature, and talking to my closest friends. After grounding myself, I am able to approach the situation with greater clarity.

What I’ve learned about experiencing imposter syndrome is that it’s a sign that I’m in what I call my “stretch zone”, the place where I’m expanding and evolving, and growing. This usually comes up for me when I experience success in my work, a new exciting opportunity arises, or if things are going well with someone I’m dating. My imposter syndrome is rooted in a discomfort or fear of success. I realized that we go through life with all of these safeguards and preparing for failure. But very seldom do we prepare ourselves for success. What if the new work opportunity works out? What if that new person I’m dating is great? We have to prepare to receive these beautiful things in life.

And lastly, I always have to remind myself that I belong here. That I’m inherently WORTHY of good things happening in my life. I remind myself that I have worked hard to be here, that I’m intelligent, capable, and qualified. And in remembering these things about myself, I am better able to receive the abundance and blessings that were meant for my life’s path.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the founder of WORTHY Self-Care. We help people connect to their humanity and enhance their well-being, all through the lens of the nervous system. Our concepts include:

WORTHY Self-Care Studio-a self-care sanctuary for a regular nervous system hygiene practice. Services include infrared sauna, red light therapy, guided cold-plunging, lymphatic drainage massage, and more.

WORTHY Breath and Body-a nervous system-friendly movement studio that incorporates some of my favorite ways to stay healthy, keep my body strong, and move energy in the body. Classes include heated vinyasa yoga, heated yoga sculpt, heated mat pilates, and (my personal favorite) functional strength training.

WORTHY Coaching- I offer transformational coaching using a framework I created that was inspired by my own transformative healing journey, as well as over ten years of training in holistic health. Using my expertise in nutrition/fitness, somatic modalities, trauma healing, and writing, I guide my clients on profound transformations towards the ultimate goal of equipping them with the tools to be their own healers.

WORTHY Travel and Retreats- Wellness-centered immersive retreats that cultivate transformation and true recovery from the stresses of life. Coming June 2025…

My Story

Shortly after my mother passed away, and with the help of some incredible mentors, doctors and therapists, I had the healing realization that I had lived a lifetime in a state of sympathetic hyperarousal, or perpetual “fight or flight”. Unaddressed trauma had lead me down a cycle of unmanageable stress, terrible relationships, depression, and a general lack of fulfillment in my life. My nervous system was in desperate need of regulation. I began to lean into the various modalities that I had already had in my tool kit as an athlete with greater frequency, but most importantly, with intention. Saunas, red light therapy, cold- plunging, breathwork, meditation, and lymphatic massage helped me heal my system so that I could put my best foot forward as a mother, sister, friend, and entrepreneur, but most importantly for myself. Writing was also incredibly integral to my healing experience.
Thanks to these transformative practices, I am able to down-regulate my nervous system, and build stress-resilience adaptations. In essence, I’ve been able to raise my baseline so that when I am faced with stress, I am able to respond with abundance and calm.
In recognizing my own struggles with stress and trauma, I began to cultivate compassion for myself (an ongoing journey), and in doing so, I was able to recognize the same challenges in others.
I began to question why it was so challenging for me and many in my community to gain access to these incredibly impactful modalities. Why are the impactful wellness services that changed my life so inaccessible?

Self-Care for ALL.

Our ethos is rooted in our collective humanity and the undeniable fact that every human on this earth is born WORTHY of good health, ease of being, love, joy, and simply feeling good.

Our mission is to increase access to services like ours across the spectrum of our society. By doing so, I firmly believe that we can help uplift members of our community and society to a more just and equitable lived experience.
We offer a sliding scale program in addition to our 501c3 nonprofit, WORTHY Wellness Initiative. Through our initiative, we provide folks who meet the income requirements, a free membership to be able to experience our services. So often, wellness spaces like ours are inaccessible to members of our society who need them the most. This inequality disproportionately affects marginalized communities such as people of color, immigrants, people with physical differences, etc.

We are here to create a safe space and refuge for our clients through our shared and collective humanity.

It’s the honor of a lifetime to be of service in this way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is arguably the most critical skill needed for success in anything I do, whether it’s starting a business, pursuing a degree, entering a relationship, or being a parent. Being connected to myself has been imperative for me as it informs my discernment and decision-making, emotions, and my physical health. Self-awareness creates opportunities for iteration and improvement, both critical for progress, good leadership, and growth.

Authenticity

I am human first and foremost, and I believe understanding and learning how to be better connected to my humanity has been extremely impactful to my journey. Showing up as my most authentic self has helped keep me on a path that is aligned with who I am and how I want to be in the world. Knowing who I am, what makes me excited in life, what my passions are has transformed my experience of living, in addition to helping me magnetize and attract the people, places and opportunities that are in alignment with the best version of me.

Nervous System Regulation

The nervous system governs just about every function of the body and the nuances of our emotional reactions and responses to life. Understanding how to work with my nervous system to create as much balance as possible has arguably been the greatest catalyst for my transformation from a stressed out, overwhelmed, depressed, relationally unhealthy person, to someone who is happy, thriving, fulfilled, abundant and calm. Understanding my nervous system and what it needs helps me be a good mother, leader, friend, sister and partner.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’d love to connect with folks who have a shared passion for being of service to people, can think outside the box, are self-aware and humble, yet confident in their skills, and have financial capital to invest in a rapidly growing successful business. In essence, I’m looking for a partner who is going to have skin in the game, and help me scale WORTHY Self-Care to serve a significantly larger audience of people who really need our help.
