Meet Mercedes Nelson

We were lucky to catch up with Mercedes Nelson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Mercedes, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I’ve been able to build my confidence and self-esteem by cultivating a healthy relationship with myself. When I first started therapy, I was in a dark and low place in life, I honestly had no idea who I truly was and felt exhausted from living unfulfilled. Therapy gave me the courage to begin my self-love journey, which has helped me discover who Mercedes really is and what she truly wants in life. Along the way, I’ve tried new things, invested in myself, and taken risks that have aligned me with my authentic self.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I create and share content, resources, and support to help others navigate their self-love and self-discovery journeys. Through a holistic wellness approach, I aim to inspire, educate, and motivate individuals to cultivate a healthier relationship with themselves.

What excites me most about this work is that I once struggled deeply with my own self-love journey, and now I feel called to help others who may be in that same place. It’s an honor to remind people that they are not alone — they are seen, heard, and understood.

I recently launched a monthly membership called Confidence Within University — a one-stop shop for all things self-love and personal development. Together, we explore the obstacles and challenges that often arise on this journey, such as self-worth and identity, emotional healing, and mindset transformation. Members also gain access to all Unleash Your Inner Confidence trainings, plus exclusive bonus resources designed to support their growth.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Psychology has been one of the most impactful areas of knowledge on my journey. It was always my favorite subject in school because I loved diving into the “why” — understanding the root causes behind our thoughts and behaviors, and seeing how they influence every part of our lives and well-being. This passion for exploring the deeper layers of human experience naturally led me to develop the skills of self-reflection and self-awareness.

These qualities have allowed me to quiet the noise of the outside world and redirect my energy toward what truly matters — following my intuition, recognizing the ways I might be holding myself back, and transforming my pain into purpose. Creativity and faith have also played an equally powerful role in my growth. Without faith, I wouldn’t have had the courage to bring intuitively guided messages, ideas, and visions to life — especially during challenging seasons when it would’ve been easier to give up. Sometimes, you have to be a little “delusional” in your belief to execute a vision because fear cannot be allowed to win.

My biggest recommendation is to take your journey one small discovery or win at a time. Yes, write out your plans, intentions, and desires — but don’t let the bigger goal overwhelm you. Taking small, consistent steps allows you to truly learn about yourself and discover what areas may need more focus or healing. Always give yourself grace; you are constantly growing, changing, and evolving. It’s okay for your goals or desires to shift along the way — that doesn’t make you any less worthy of the things you seek. And lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for support. We don’t have to do everything alone; sometimes that outside guidance is exactly what helps unlock your next chapter. Remember: you are enough, exactly as you are today.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I would love to collaborate with others in the mental health and holistic wellness spaces. My goal is to create meaningful conversations, panels, and events that inspire, educate, and motivate others on their journey to self-love and personal growth.

If you’re interested in partnering, you can email me at [email protected] or connect with me on Instagram and Facebook at @confidencewithinworth.
