Meet Meredith Brockington

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Meredith Brockington. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Meredith below.

Meredith, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Throughout my journey, my sense of purpose has evolved, but its core remains unwavering: to lead with kindness and gratitude, prioritize my health and well-being by nourishing my body, mind, and soul, and act as a natural connector—bringing together people I believe will resonate with one another. In my business, my purpose is to support women-owned businesses and collaborate with women entrepreneurs to help bring their creative visions to life. I’ve had the privilege of working with numerous women-led brands to shape their brand visuals, intentionally crafting work that reflects their passion, purpose, and showcases them in the best possible light.

I also deeply value partnering with non-profits whose missions center around serving others and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. Working with these organizations to highlight the incredible work they do is incredibly rewarding, as it allows me to connect with people in the community and across the globe.

Purpose takes on many forms, and I’ve wrestled with defining mine, particularly in my mid-thirties, when many of my friends are starting families and managing the complexities of work-life balance. However, I’ve come to understand that purpose, at its heart, should be simple and organic. It should flow naturally, and the reasons I’ve mentioned above resonate deeply within me. They come effortlessly, and that authenticity is what drives me every day.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’ve always been creative. From a young age, I would wake up early, grab my coloring supplies, and sit in front of the TV to draw along with Pappy from Pappyland. Creating something new was when I felt the most alive. Growing up in southern Maine, near the beach, I developed a deep connection with the outdoors, constantly hunting for beach treasures to repurpose. I found inspiration in the bugs, trees, and wildlife around me.

I’m also a naturally gifted singer, and I spent much of my time singing and dancing in musicals and choirs. I taught myself to play instruments and would accompany myself. It brought me so much joy to dive into creative projects, always jumping from one to the next. In high school, I purchased a maroon point-and-shoot camera and took it on a family trip to San Francisco. There, I was inspired by friends who were world travelers and would create albums of their photos. After everyone went to bed, I would stay up late, flipping through those albums. They transported me to far-off places and sparked my curiosity for photography.

I started capturing landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, and I fell in love with capturing fleeting moments of light. It became clear that a professional career in photography was the right path, while still nurturing my love for music. After graduating from RIT with a degree in photographic arts, I worked as a photo art director for L.L.Bean. There, I learned so much about teamwork, collaborating with photographers, designers, and stylists to bring photography campaigns to life. I quickly advanced in my career, finding myself directing multiple teams, juggling a variety of tasks, and ensuring that the visuals were at the highest level.

After several years in the corporate world, I felt a strong pull to step out on my own and make photography my full-time career. By that time, I had already been working with several women-owned businesses on product and lifestyle photography, and it felt like the right moment to take the leap.

Working with women-led businesses has taken me across the globe—from Nepal, where I photographed social enterprises, to working with Erin French of The Lost Kitchen, capturing brand content for her renowned business. I’ve also had the privilege of working with small, artistic businesses in Maine and across the country. My portfolio is diverse, reflecting a range of projects, but women remain the common thread that ties everything together.

Women are the creators of life and beauty, and I’m constantly in awe of the passion, strength, and resilience that women bring to their pursuits. I’m inspired by how they evolve and grow over time, and I love being a part of their journey, helping them share their stories with the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Building authentic connections and advocating for yourself. It’s crucial to make meaningful connections and consistently follow up. Never be afraid to advocate for the opportunities you want—whether through networking, reaching out, or making your intentions clear.

2. Being teachable and relentlessly pursuing knowledge. I wasn’t taught essential business skills like bookkeeping, finance, or website development. I took the initiative to teach myself, and over time, I became proficient in these areas. It requires patience, persistence, and grit, but the key is to never give up and keep learning.

3. Surrounding yourself with supportive people. I’m fortunate to have an incredible group of friends who believe in me and lift me up. They’re there to celebrate the wins and help me navigate the tougher moments in life. I wouldn’t have made it this far without their unwavering support.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am passionate about collaborating with women who are looking to elevate their brand’s presentation and create compelling, high-quality visuals. My goal is to provide services that go beyond just photography. I work closely with women business owners, offering creative feedback, valuable business strategies, and big-picture direction, while also planning and executing photoshoots from start to finish.

First and foremost, I choose to work with kind, driven individuals. I especially enjoy partnering with women who have a clear understanding of their brand and are in a phase of growth. They often just need the right person to come alongside them—someone to cheer them on, offer support, and help fill in the gaps.

I see myself as both a business advisor and a creative partner, always working to support and promote their business while helping share their unique story with the world.
